Even though the US is a 1st world country its social services, food quality and medical regulations are less than a 3rd world country :( I feel for your countrymen just simply to go to a doctor then getting into huge debt and bankruptcy afterwards!

Food is truly the one thing we all get excited about at the moment. I use "I'm supporting local businesses" as a great excuse to order yummy food and not cook. I normally do takeout on Wednesdays, rotating places that are walking distance from my house. Today was Thai food. On Friday afternoons, I drive out to a farm to pick up produce, garm eggs and milk, etc. for the week. They also do "family meals" which feeds about 4 people. The menu changes every weel. This week is pulled pork, German potato salad, baked beans with bacon, potato bread rolls and apple cake. I love Friday afternoons

Sinichi’s sandwich is similar to one I make. I toast a bagel 🥯(lightly toasted), add cream cheese to one side and blackberry jam on the other...then put slices of banana 🍌, kiwi 🥝 and pineapple 🍍 rings. Sometimes I use mandarin oranges 🍊 instead of the kiwi. It’s so yummy 😋 EDIT: It’s also very good with flavored cream cheese (strawberry, cinnamon or blueberry. If I use flavored cream cheese I leave off the jam as the cheese is sweetened. You should definitely try it, I have a feeling you would enjoy the flavors. 😁

My area actually survives mostly on direct phone orders because these mom-and-pop shops really don't know how to utilize the delivery apps, which is just fine for me. All I do is make my order at the restaurant, take a walk, and then pick it up. Many restaurants are still closed so even it's actually difficult trying to get delivery. But once shelter-in-place lifts and we can begin Phase 3 of reopening, you bet I'm going to go out to eat. I miss my restaurants!!

This kind of family business is very popular where I live too, so we usually don't order through apps. My elderly and retired neighbors, a lovely couple in their 70 or so years old, make the best burgers in the whole town. They still prefer to work and all of their costumers gladly call them to order, because the option is to stay without their delicious burgers. They actually don't need to work, but they think about it as community thing, which is extra nice

I love how they put wasabi inside of sushi/rolls because here in New York,,,most Japanese restaurant is owned by Chinese... they never put wasabi inside.... sometimes small details made a huge difference

Thankfully, there is an Asian Market (that’s its name - “Asian Market”) near the hospital where I work as a Registered Nurse and can pick up fresh ingredients to cook at home. I love vegetable sushi and your plate looked amazing. Its hard to find good sushi in our area but going to Chinatown in central London is a dream. Buying all the ingredients and lots of store cuboard items with my instant macha tea and boba pearls (a few cheeky treats). I'm set for the month. Being in lockdown with travel restitutions has been hard, as the majority of the food I usually eat is Japanese, Chinese and Korean. Not something you can pick up from our local supermarket sadly.
