The first Darrin and Endora were good friends, which is why they had such good chemistry. When he left, and they replaced him, I think she was upset about it and you can tell.

The Chemistry was different between her and this Darrin, but she understood the Original Darrin _(Dick York)_ was ill and had debilitating back pain & issues from a bad injury that prevented him from continuing with the Series. He was the Best Darrin, I'm glad he did the first 5 of the Show's 8 Seasons.

​@@petrsson In 1959 he had a severe accident on the set of a movie. He tore all the muscles on the right side of his back. They just snapped open and were loose. He didn't seek proper medical care. And so his back didn't heal properly. He ended up with severe chronic pain that got worse over time.

Dick Sargent. He played Darrin as if the only thing his relationship was with Endora was hate. Dick York understood that being highly annoyed and irritated with someone doesn't automatically translate to hate. With Dick York, you knew that he had some positive feelings somewhere for his mother-in-law, and that much of the negative interaction with her was tempered with non-serious ribbing. Dick Sargent just seemed to go for the hostility with no subtlety whatsoever.

I loved this show, but HATED the "Derwood" character! Darrin could have had so much fun with Samantha's Witchcraft. But no, he was too focused on looking "normal ". Plus he Hated most of Samantha's family, only barely tolerating Aunt Clara. At least Major Nelson was patient and had some fun with Jeannie's powers!

I have nothing against Sargent but York always played the assertive role with a comedic element. Sargent has a RBF while York has a very animated face. There's also a huge difference in the way they say "Endora."

Sargent was offered the role originally, but chose to continue with whatever he was involved with at the time (it flopped hugely). He never did fit the role of Darrin, and it was too bad York was so terribly injured that it ruined him physically for the rest of his life.

You have a very narrow, idealistic view of what you think life was like back then. The horrors were hidden, females wereabused and assulted, exhausted from multiple births, men had control over even if females could open a bank account and even with the pill drs wanted the husband's "permission" to give the wife the pill. Really working out that oppressive time.

This new darrin always reminds me of my late father. We lived in queens nyc and had our little 13 new color tv. 13" and color and we thought it was the best thing ever. We knew the beginning of bewitched was animated so we anxiously waited to see the new Darrin. Well, we saw him and me and my 5 siblings screamed and laughed. My father got so p'd off he sent us all to the other room and we could only listen to the episode. We all still laugh about it but always with a feeling of missing dad. He was a good man!

Yeah, I have to agree. Dick York was perfect with Elizabeth Montgomery. They had chemistry together. Even York and Agnes Moorhead worked well together. Dick Sargent is a good actor but the chemistry of the show turned a bit more bitter with him in the role. Samantha just seemed snarky all the time with Sargent’s Darrin.

@@marciahill7946 A few years ago Sony Pictures which owns the series, put the entire series out on excellent dvd set... But that can only be bought now on eBay because they went out of print... The set out now in stores is by mill creek and is ok but not greatest quality... Everyone has been waiting for years for Sony to put Bewitched out on bluray for the first time, but for who knows what reason they still havent

Actually, Elizabeth Montgomery was fed up with playing Samantha, and wanted the show to end. The producers had increased her salary hugely three seasons earlier, and managed to convince her to stay, but this, the last season, was truly her last by her choice, and she let her irritation with the whole thing show in her own attitude.

There was only one Darrin, Dick York. Dick Sargent was a nice guy but York was just my idea of Darrin. Never liked Elizabeth Montgomery or her then husband William Asher. They wanted rid of York because he had injured his back while making a movie. He was in terrible pain sometimes but trying to make a living. They took the opportunity when York's back froze and he had to be taken to the hospital. They recast! York said if they had just given him some time he could have returned. In interviews Asher constantly said thing about York that just weren't nice. "We found all these drugs," in his shoes, in drawers, never saying they were prescription drugs and pain killers. I think someone eventually told him to shut up. I never heard York say anything bad about the two. He said the last time he saw Montgomery was when they took him out of the studio on a gurney, but if they met again he knew it would be just like before. He had class! Agnes Moorehead liked him and at the first reading of the script with the new Darrin she slammed the script on the table and said, "I don't like change."

Because she didnt need it the rest of the day and if they'd let it go all night algae would have grown in there. My mom always drained the pools i had growing up. And algae isnt the only worry, and algae might not have grown over night. The real worry is little animals getting in there and drowning, amongst other things.

believe it or not a pool that has been steeped with a couple of children becomes an instant bacteria soup. if left overnight and a day or two the smell is horrific. because we don't chlorinate kiddy pools like that. drain the pool, the lawn will use the enrichment

Only in the last two or three seasons was it in color. Nobody liked it that way, though, and if the show had continued, it was going to go back to b/w.
