Genuinely great material. ITProTV isn't just another coaching channel that tap dances around the subject. They actually get down into the weeds and show you what the subject is with great examples and explanations. Thank you for putting this series together. It is really helpful for someone looking to pivot into IT. Interested in learning more about what other services ITProTV offers given that your free content is really good. Specifically what kind of hands on/labs you offer.

Hey Don! After watching this video, I think I will consider Database Administrator as a career that I will take! I'm still a first year college student :)

Thank you for this video. Don seems really a nice person that if you have an argument with him, 99% it is your fault.

Hi Ron / Don, I have a random question. During the talk it reminded me of Playstation Network names and for years users could not change them. Users were stuck with the same name they probably chose when they were 13 or had start a new profile but loose all of your trophies ( In-game rewards ). The reasoning Playstation said it took over a decade to fix was the fact the system was not built to change the names. After the long context my question is would the database table setup have to do with that issue? Or am I way off base? Just curious.

Sony is somewhat known for their lack of foresight and planning on their Playstation Network. In their scenario, they were most likely using the user ID as the unique identifier for each account. Best practices, on the other hand, is to assign each account an ID number or GUID as their unique identifier. From there, the user ID just becomes another data point tied to the GUID and can easily be changed without losing records. It's easy enough to do if you plan for it from the beginning. It is very difficult to change afterwards. I have seen similar mistakes where people used table row numbers as identifiers. -Don

Is adding a primary/foreign key DDL or DML? Thank you!
@ACILearning3 жыл бұрын
It's usually part of database design which would be a DDL.

We go into far more depth in our SQL courses on the ITProTV website. I am surprised to hear that you got such in-depth questions on it. Typically the database and programming questions on the exam are very superficial. Either the exam has changed or you got a very unfortunate draw from the random question pool. If you would like a quick summary you can view all of the SQL data types here: www.w3schools.com/sql/sql_datatypes.asp
