Thanks for sharing your views, Tim! I agree with you, AI (at this point) is a great copilot, helper, digital colleague that can help you brainstorm or solves bugs. But let us still have some control. The "Organize My Vizzes" on Tableau Public that could only be done with AI is another example of where we really didn't needed AI. That entire feature (that people wanted for a long time) is barely usable because AI is not a helper, but it's fully in control.

You're a good dude Tim, you've come a long way with your knowledge and understanding of all things tableau and data/tech since the layout container video many years ago, keep up the good work and thanks for all you've done over the years with delivering great content

Tim, I continue to be impressed with your insights into Tableau the tool, and Tableau the community of users and creators. I have concerns with the the Salesforce CEO's stated vision on "digital labor" and building the "digital workforce". At this point, I do not see how Tableau the product will not ultimately come into direct competition with the user community that have made Tableau what it is. Your observations on the distinctions between "customers" and "users" is spot on. I predict that soon Salesforce will pivot its marketing exclusively to the business customers that pay for Tableau and the workforce of Tableau users and creators, and present them with solutions to replace human Tableau users with Salesforce's digital workforce. I hope I am wrong, but I see this as inevitable.

Great overview of this vast topic, Tim. Fascinating to see how the big players are experimenting with different ways to incorporate AI, the pricing models, positioning etc. Very valid point also about it taking years to build trust in data sources that could be lost quickly with potentially inaccurate AI decisions/guidance.

I really enjoyed the video and am disappointed that I had not been aware of your channel sooner. I 100% agree on the current capabilities of Tableau Agent / Einstein Copilot for workbook web authoring. I first used the feature in October of last year, and quickly came to the conclusion that it was not ready for prime time. The worst outcome of my tests were when I would provide it a series of instructions, the product would then tell me it had completed them but had done exactly zero of the tasks outlined. That said, I’m confident they will nail this feature in the near future. There is no shortage of brilliant people working on the Tableau product.

Amazing video and shared it at work, love the non edits too. About the web access only for Agent, I installed Desktop 2025.1 Preview (for Custom themes testing) and I'm pretty sure I saw the little tableau Agent icon top right corner - maybe i'm dreaming (I removed 2025 Preview) Would be keen to know more about extra energy used to drive Agent

I made the video to be a marker int he sand and reflect on 2024 i anticipate some of the things ive said will change in 2025 and if they do add it to desktop! great but you'll still need tableau cloud i assume.

Can we enable the Tableau AI feature on the Tableau Cloud demo site? In Tableau documentation its mentioned Tableau+ license is a pre-request
@TableauTim5 күн бұрын
I’ve not been able to. I’ve had to use a separate instance with the license which is also why I’ve not made much content. In the 25.1 release this might change see my video I mention something called the release preview site

Apologies I'm using a new tool (Descript) and i frgot to apply the sound cleaning i usualy did in resolve. That sound is always in the root recording due to the way my mic is setup.

12:11 it’s going to be the case very soon that you will use Ai to create the emails and then use Ai to give a summary of those emails. Or someone uses it to write a 500 word article and he. Everyone uses ai to summarise it into one short paragraph. The sheer resources used to create this AI filler content will be insane

I believe AI features aimed at replacing data analysts will yield marginal success, while those designed to enhance the productivity of data analysts have the potential to truly transform the landscape. We could create better, more beautiful, and useful dashboards-faster. Ultimately, the direction depends on Tableau's vision and the strategic path they choose to follow.
