Very cool Tim! Thanks for sharing. A few more updates, and Tableau feels like Python or R :-)

Aha yeah its getting complex but i like that it can remain simple as well. These are power features at the end of the day.

Hello Tim, this is super helpful thank you. Quick question, is there a way to forecast the Gaussian predictive model in Tableau? It's a calculated field so forecast function is greyed out. But if we have developed the GP prediction, how can we use it to predict the future months? Any help? Appreciate it.

Hi Tim, super useful video and videos on your page Just wondered if you can calculate a predictive model on that data and then use that model on another set of data in tableau?

Hi Tim, was wondering how this really differs from the built in forecasting?
@TableauTim3 жыл бұрын
You can customise it yourself with your own changed added in newer versions. The built in forecasting models are a specific set of forecasting libraries with no room for customisation.

Im confused. How is this illustrating predictive modeling vs a calculated trend line. Why I'm used to seeing is the time series extended to illustrate the "prediction"

Valid point. I actually forgot to do the date extension which I called out at the very beginning and suggested you watch before this video. My main aim was to show the feature not explain the models so I thought the video still did that and unfortunately my schedule didn't allow me to rerecord the whole thing and re-edit the whole thing. As I suggest the dislike buttons there.

@@TableauTim can you add that eventually. It will be really helpful..I didn't see much about it in the tableau documentation. Will keep looking. At least I have some place to start. Thanks for putting out your vids. They are wonderful

Valid point. However, going into the details gets extremely technical really fast. In SHORT: "trend line" is a simple linear regression based on two variables (x and y). Model quantile uses e.g. 0.5 (median) for interpolation (i.e., historical data). To extrapolate (i.e., forecast), it adds a linear regression.

Hello Tim, great content. New to tableau, do you have training courses on Udemy or any other platform for Tableu desktop specialist and Tableu certified associates certification?
@TableauTim4 жыл бұрын
Not yet ;) Im actually redoing all my exams at the moment as they expired before I went on paternity leave so I'll be making a video covering them all. Stay tuned. There are some other videos though on KZbin.
