I think infantry flamethrowers should be the same range as point-blank rifle fire, which is what, 6 inches...or maybe 6 inches against hard targets 12 inches against soft targets. I know in one of my rules infantry flamethrowers have the same range as pistols and point-blank rifle. Also, I think part of the problem, as you mentioned, is that units are allowed to basically get a free move from their jump off locations, which makes it harder for attackers to take objectives in last couple turns of game. Now, It would be a nice house rule to have a unit placed on top of Jump Off Marker without moving that turn...Basically, you're Jump-Off Point is the movement for your unit that turn. Anyways, something to think about.

Great game! And beautiful set up as usual. I love Chain of Command but the flame thrower is a bit off, especially in defense. I would house rule it to be limited to specific scenarios or to the attacker only. Another option would be to increase its support point cost or limit its range. It’s you that plays the game, you can change whatever you want you know. :-)

Attacker only is a good idea. With that thing waiting in the wings and how powerful it is it can totally hinder an attack just knowing it’s out there.

Yeah, attacking in CoC is difficult enough as it is. Having a flame thrower waiting to jump out and burn your heavy tank to a crisp doesn’t make it easier. :-) And frankly it feels wrong from a historical standpoint with flamers being used like that. A hidden MG nest or a bazooka team surprising a unsuspecting foe sure, but a flamethrower lying in wait in the bushes with the igniter burning, waiting for the enemy tanks to arrive doesn’t seem right to me. It was in general a highly specialized assault weapon. Limiting it for the attacker would be good. And it might also help with the other issue you mentioned of having the attacker go super slow and methodically to be successful. A flame thrower might help speed thing up. Love your channel - all the best for 2024!

It looked dicey for André on his right flank. But it turned out to be dicey the other way. Great game and the attack could have gone either way.

Great game. Travis if you know that the flame thrower is such a problem to the germans why did you not counter it?
@tabletopcp Жыл бұрын
Not really any way to counter it. It’s deploys within 6” and shoots 12”. If you were on overwatch it could possibly take it out but it would still get to shoot. And bye bye tank.

Is the system itself, the missions and the factions balanced? I am new to CoC and have a feeling, that most of the time it could be a sit and shoot and lets see who rolls better and/or is in hard cover. Am I right?
@tabletopcp Жыл бұрын
Yeah you are mostly right. Most of the time it comes down to firefights and who can drop the enemy force morale faster. Actual objectives are rarely important. There are ways to make objectives important like spending chain of command dice on the obj to end the game. But yeah 95% of the time the only thing that matters is force morale

@@tabletopcp thank you! is bolt action better in this regard?
@tabletopcp Жыл бұрын
@@RoosterRC yes objectives in bolt action are more important. You actually have to go for them to win the game.

This game need to include the lack of gun turret depreciation as part of firing arcs.....
