14:43 Re Fog of War: I know you mentioned you don't like to use the FoW chips and instead use the "blanket" fog of war system, but my particular map is outdoor, so the players would be able to see the entire map, just NOT the interior of buildings (which contain the enemies). Therefore, I think the FoW chips would be the best way. However, FoW chips only allow you to do 1 zone per fog of war box, meaning I'd need like 10-15 chips in order to cover all my interior buildings. What would you recommend in my situation? Is there a way to do multiple FoW areas using only one FoW chip?

Dope content, very thorough but not long winded. I have a question, can you tell me how to delete maps? Or links (the little X's) on the Oneworld hub? I uploaded two maps today 1600x945 and they pack items but don't have a build option. I did nothing different from my other maps (which still work same size and many more objects in them). But these two I imported from my files today seem to be bugged
@ColColonCleaner2 жыл бұрын
You delete maps by clicking the delete button in the side panel of OneWorld. The first click will delete objects stored within it, the second will delete the whole map. You remove links by clicking the link once and then clicking unlink in the side panel. If the build button is not displaying when it should press next once and then last to show your map name again, if the build button displays now it's because your map name is too long, you should shorten it.

@ColColonCleaner2 жыл бұрын
Remember that your maps can be much higher resolution than 1600x945, it just needs to be that aspect ratio. The maximum size TTS supports for images is 10000x10000, which means the maximum map resolution while maintaining OneWorld's aspect ratio is 10000x5906.

Great tutorial. I still need help with one problem that I can't figure out. Maybe you can find a way. It's related to the caveat you explained about Collider Issues. I use the sync button to fix the colliders and it works great EXCEPT it breaks the states in all the objects on the map that have them. If I have doors or windows or any other object with multiple states (door open, door closed, door broken, etc). They no longer work after using the SYNC button. I have no idea why, since they work perfectly fine right until I use that button. Thanks.

@ColColonCleaner10 ай бұрын
You can subscribe to the dnd tools workshop, then in your own table in tts open the menu which shows your saved games and workshops and right-click > search on the dnd tools workshop. That lets you see all the individual items in the workshop and you can grab the fog spawner. Another way is to open the dnd tools workshop and right-click the fog spawner and then save the object, then you can retrieve it from the saved objects list in tts. The revealer is always a circle, but you can reduce its range in the right click menu on the object. FYI, any object can be a revealer, i just included an already configured one for convenience.

There is a section of the tutorial that goes over rotation using Gimp but I didn't mention the importance of doing it that way. You cannot use Windows to do the image rotation, it needs to be an image editor. Windows and some viewers just add metadata to the image that says 'rotate 90 when viewing' without actually changing the image underneath. Unity and thus TTS ignore that metadata, they show the raw image. Rotate your image in Gimp or another image editor so it's portrait and export it from there. Then the image will actually be portrait.

Excellent tutorial👏 Everything works great for me. The only problem that I run into is that when I load in large 3d models (such as 3d maps) it doesn't load in the collision of the object properly. It seems that the collision box is too high, and the minis end up floating above it Is this a familiar problem?
@ColColonCleaner9 ай бұрын
Pressing the 'sync' button after building the map reloads objects and can fix collider issues. I believe this is a problem related to loading a ton of objects at once, but I haven't had a chance to look into that particular issue. I talk about this problem at the end of the tutorial, and demonstrate it.
@ColColonCleaner9 ай бұрын
However, i found there is one caveat with pressing 'sync'. It messes up objects that have multiple states if they were packed with the map. The alternate states will no longer work after doing this, so be careful with that. Not sure why that happens.

Yes, that's what map exporting is for. Add a map, add objects/minis and pack the map, build the packed map so the saved objects come back, then hit export. The map will be bagged up and that bag can be saved and brought to another table. But when I build the world, on some maps the walls are offset a little bit, and I have to redo everything all over again and I don't know why it happens :(
@ColColonCleaner9 ай бұрын
Are you using custom models for the walls or something generic like the wall spawner? Custom models can have colliders that, if angled, can shift slightly when the game saves.
@GazpaNova9 ай бұрын
@@ColColonCleaner thanks so much for answering. No, I'm using the regular wall spawner, giving it a transparent texture using the color tool included.

@@GazpaNova not sure what's happening then. Does it happen if you open up the oneworld revived workshop and import your malfunctioning map there? You can export it from your table and import it to the base workshop and try saving that as a test table, directions are in the video.
@GazpaNova9 ай бұрын
@@ColColonCleaner I'll try that later today and see if it keeps happening. Either way it's weird, because it does NOT happen every time I open a mal. It's seemingly random.

Hey, what minis do you primarily use for your campaigns? I've been using D&D Miniatures R.R.O. but the scaling seems really off compared to the few minis in your tools. I've set up the grid calibration as described, and your minis work perfectly, but whenever I inject one from the D&D Miniatures R.R.O. workshop pack, they're all really small - any ideas? To be clear, this isn't a problem with the actual injection for the other pack, they are resizing when I change the grid size, they're just all too small - if there is a way to make all minis from that mod bigger by default that would work, but just wondering what you do?
@ColColonCleaner2 жыл бұрын
Minis need to be the right size relative to the grid when they are calibrated. If you have automatic calibration on then they need to match your grid when they are injected. Objects can have a variety of different default scales, and I also don't know if the person wants their mini to be a different size. For example someone could want a 25ft goblin, so I can't guess on what scale it should be.

@@ColColonCleaner Thanks for the reply, I played around and realised this was nowhere near as big of an issue when I can just bulk select and increase size! The only other question I have is around FoW, I had a test session last night and noticed when I moved the revealer near minis, it would hide them again for my players, is this a bug or have I got something set wrong? Thanks for your help, and these tools are awesome

Great video! I'm having a problem though and I was hoping someone might know the answer. I dropped a link for a smaller location map onto the main world map, but I decided I want to use a different map for that smaller location. How do I edit or delete a link added to my world map without just deleting the whole thing and starting from scratch?

Also I just tried importing a map that has custom minis and buildings on it and they built just fine on my screen, but they generated up in the air far above the table for everyone else. Is there a fix for this?
@ColColonCleaner2 жыл бұрын
1. Click a link once, so that the name displays in grey. In this mode the 'link' button on the left changes to 'unlink' which will remove the link from the map. 2. Usually multiplayer de-sync issues like this can be fixed by pressing the sync button after building. The build button changes to that after a build is complete. Note that if you have any objects with multiple states stored in the map using sync will break the states, so if you must use objects with multiple states in your maps the only way to solve the de-sync is to make a save of the table after building the map and then load that save.

@@ColColonCleaner Thank you so much for the quick reply! Re: the link issue - thanks, that's exactly what I needed! As for the maps, it didn't work, maybe those particular maps are just broken. I found other ones that work though. Thanks for the troubleshooting suggestion, I'll definitely keep that in mind in the future.

I have another issue, I was hoping you might be able to help with. I'm finding that none of my OneWorld maps are displaying properly for my players. I detailed out all the info for troubleshooting on reddit: redd.it/wocnv5. I was wondering if you had any ideas for what might be the problem?

How can I get into this and find people to play with ?

The r/LFG subreddit is a good place to start. Mention tabletop simulator and what type of game you're looking to play.

Amazing video! Just one question: How do you get the Character Token 'measure movement' to display in multiples of 5 like the Measurement Tool. I used the measurement tool mod to calibrate the grid, but the token movement is still just saying 1 per square and 1.4 per diagonal. Are you using a separate mod for this?
@ColColonCleaner2 жыл бұрын
Don't use the default measurement in that case. The one you want is in the custom options menu. Open the minis options menu by clicking the center of their health bar, then toggle measure moves on. Red is on, white is off. Documentation here: github.com/ColColonCleaner/DNDTools#dnd-mini-injector

why did you say the size is 1600 by 945 I spent the last 3 hours trying to find a proper grid size (they, and their multiples, don't have any common divisors) and it's driven me insane! the official knowledge base says its 4400 by 2600 is the -1 pixel on 2600 intentional or a miscalculation?
@ColColonCleaner8 ай бұрын
The aspect ratio used internally by OneWorld is 1600:945. That is what it uses to scale the map token. That is the actual aspect ratio of the map area on the custom rectangle table in TTS. I assume you are referring to the following page which gives a suggested texture size for the custom rectangle table: kb.tabletopsimulator.com/custom-content/asset-creation/ That suggested value for texture size does not match the aspect ratio of the in game table, so i assume that's why the original creator of OneWorld used 1600:945 since that exactly matched the table. Any map can be sized to fit after it's created, either by cropping or expanding, and there is a section later in the video going over that. I assume in your scenario that expanding would be the preferential option.

Funny how the fit button doesn't make the image fit rather it makes the image fill.
