designers commentary that came out with the points said that stratagems that make units untargetable like dark obscuration interrupted the shooting. The unit is able to target another unit, but the Chaos terminator could not have been shoot outside 12" on turn 1.

The Anti x keyword isn’t just “always wounds on X” it crits, meaning your combi weapons should have triggered devastating wounds on a 4+

I admit it's not entirely clear, but I don't think Abaddon's melee weapon's lose their Devastating Wounds characteristic if he's fighting Out-of-Phase (i.e. using the Khorne stratagem to fight after being destroyed), as the designer commentary seems to clarify you just can't use abilities that are triggered in a specific phase, i.e. if you use Overwatch to shoot with a Whirlwind, even though you make shooting attacks similar to the Shooting phase, you don't get to trigger the Pinning bombardment ability (which says: "In your Shooting phase..."). Devastating wounds just occur when a critical wound roll for an attack is made, it doesn't matter what phase it occurs in. Love the content, and really keen to see more tenth.

also important note, fighting in the fight phase is not "out of phase", so if he did have some wacky rule beyond his weapon attacks he should still be able to use it

A thing of note about Guilliman's Master of Battle ability: While you gain full re-rolls against the second target, it technically does not count as being the target of Oath of Moment. While this specific detail will most of the time not have any impact, the Terminators for example would not get their +1 to hit against it.

Played a game of tenth after work. My brother’s orks absolutely hosed my Death Guard in 3 turns. Didn’t feel less lethal at all with all the stacking weapon abilities. I want so badly to be hyped for 10th but jeeeeez it just felt rough to me.

Dude you got no idea! There are facegroup groups meeting everywhere to play, you can play the whole game for free on table top simulator to get the bugs out, there are discord servers for it and you can learn it all from there. Also there are thousand of battle reports online now days. I also haven’t played in almost 2 decades and getting back into it and learning was actually easier this time than the first. to top it all off I am resin printing minis to fill in as I grow my first army. Crazy good time to be a table top warrior!

The hellblaster shooting was confusing. Lawrence rolled 10 crit hits right? So that would be 10 extra hits and 10 autowounds with all the buffs. He also rolled 2 other 4+ as far as I saw. Shouldn't that mean he would roll 12 dice for the wound roll with 10 autowounds on the side? Instead he rolled 22 dice for the wound roll.

That battle between Abaddon and Guilliman was like a little mini recreation of the Emperor and Horus. Abaddon is defeated by the Emperor's Sword! ... but has gravely wounded the primarch in return. (Lucky that Bobby G wasn't so badly done in as to need a golden throne and Abaddon returns of course to his masters.)

​@@tabletoptactics Now that I looked at the points, 165 pts model removing a unit worth 305 pts (counting Apothecary) in one salvo. Savage (granted with the right combo of Blast, Daemonic ordinance, dark pact, profane zeal). It really shows how the right thinking of synergies in 10th will be able to produce certain Alpha strikes. I don't think the game will be less killy actually.

Dark obscuration would happen immediately (I think) for the attack on the terminators. There is something about rules that say "just after? as applying to the action that was about to happen

@Beard Since Abaddon has Tzeentch keyword, you could have been targeting his unit with Skinshift to heal 3 wounds AND returning Terminators with full wounds to the battlefield for 1cp per turn.

What is the strongest CSM combo for you guys right now? • 10 Possessed with a MoP upgraded with Liber Hereticus all Undivided and use of Profane Zeal to get buckets of mortals. • 10 Possessed (9 "M) with one MoP as Slaanesh and UNNATURAL SWIFTNESS to run across the field Advance+1 and Charge +1 • Tzeentch Obliterator - For 1 CP you heal 3 wounds on this unit AND reanimate 1 dead Obliterator with 5 wounds (and LETHAL HITS at +5) • Nurgle Obliterator to hide it from shots from 12'' and melt them down at half distance • Helbrute with Havoc's chaincannon (32 shots) as a Tzeentch to get lethal AND sustained hits at +5 • Nurgle Terminators with Termi Lord cast on 0CP Dark Obscuration to protect Terminators and shoot them down with combi weapons

I’ve seen this game and the one vs Dark Angels and would like to point out that the CSM stratagem for -1 to hit is way stronger than you play it, it says that if you are Nurgle you effectively get Lone Operative, it doesn’t say “after your opponent have shot” And in the core rules they state that if a unit for some reason was a target of fire but is suddenly not a eligible target you can choose a new eligible target In this game it would mean that the Hellblasters would have had to simply change target, don’t think they would enjoy that 😃

New to CSM, so I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that transports didn't need to have the same mark as the unit inside them. The restrictions say that Psykers can't be Khorne marked and Leaders must share a mark with the unit they attach to.
