Thank you, it's super super useful. I have the following question. The type cover keyboard on surface pro X I own doesn't function on the surface pro 11. The connector is compatible, but it just doesn't work. The Microsoft support have confirmed that only the new keyboards with copilot AI key are compatible with copilot AI laptops. Why doesn't Microft make the new surface pro 11 compatible with old keyboards? I think it is a waste of resources.

In germany its 430€ without the stylus and 530€ with the stylus. The keyboard is such a great idea, but paying 400€ for the premium of using it while not attached is the definition of crazy

I agree. Bluetooth is a VERY inexpensive component, usually less than $5-$10. And a battery that is adequate for a keyboard that is likely consistently charging itself via the port.... also doesn't need to be expensive at all. Literally $10-$20 worth of component additions. How that equates to a price difference of $200... I just don't get it. If it was regular keyboard $129, bluetooth variant $179 or even $199.... okay, understandable. That price hike is just crazy to me.

Coming from first-hand experiences and peer review, my Surface Pro 9 keyboard failed me after 1 year so do my peers. It was not being used frequently as I used really heavily on ' other brand ' products on daily basis and SP9 was always kept on a desk as it only served as a particular software usage tablet. This make me feel their keyboard has a 1-year shelf life! Utterly disappointed with Microsoft's product.

Got ripped off it appears best buy sold me the wrong keyboard ... mine has no USB, and it suppose to work disconnected from the screen ... it don't work.

Mr. Pro, what's are your thoughts on using a tempered glass screen protector or using a paperlike screen protector for surface devices? I'm getting mixed feedback from the community. For reference, I prefer to keep all of my device protected, and I don't really draw, and I mostly use my tablet/pcs for notetaking. Some people are saying that a thick tempered glass would affect the pen experience in general. Should I or Should I not use a screen protector?

Hi, I think that if you get a new paperlike or other "amazon recommended" screen protector for the surface that you will be fine with it. The good thing is that most of them are quite inexpensive, and amazon has a great return policy. I don't think you will be bothered by any changes in the pen experience either. Most likely some of the subtle nuances that can be affected by a screen protector would be offset by the improvements you would gain by using the stylus more often. If it's a surface pro 8 or newer the pen experience is quite good and you'll still be able to appreciate how good it is even with a screen protector. Now, that said, I don't use one and haven't. Some people add them to add more grit to the screen to make it feel more like paper. In general the surface stylus has a better feel already than something like an iPad. So in that regard, I wouldn't recommend a surface screen protector. It can also dim the amount of light coming from the screen and make using the surface in a brighter environment more difficult. I think the risk of trying one is very small. Would you let me know what you think after you give it a shot?

@@TabletPro Hello Mr. Pro, I'm back after just receiving my Surface Pro 11, and installing a Non-matte Tempered Glass Screen Protector from ELECOM which I ordered from Japan. The glass was made for the surface pro 9 and the surface pro X. Overall, at least on OneNote, I find that the writing quality using the slim pen 2 was mostly the same with the glass on. I didn't experience any of the jitters or the wavyness, with the pen, that people experienced and reported as issues on reddit. Surprisingly, haptic feedback still works, but I had to increase a little bit to 65% to match the feel of the default values. I'm happy that I get peace of mind from any screen damages, and the writing experience is largely the same. With the excellent haptic feedback, I feel that it scratches that itch of being "paperlike" without wearing out the nibs as fast when compared to using a textured screen protector.

Misleading title: $449 is for the flex keyboard stylus combo that works when detached from the device. The Magic Keyboard from Apple for 13 inch is $349 and this works only when connected to the device. Surface Keyboard + Stylus is still $270 ($80 cheaper than Magic Keyboard) the only thing is that it won’t work when detached from device.

I would disagree on the "misleading title" part of your statement. I agree that you can use the cheaper keyboard (still expensive). I'm not concerned about there being other choices, my statement is that the flex keyboard is obnoxiously overpriced. I just can't recommend that people buy it without knowing there are alternatives that are legitimately good (it's what I use with plenty of options available to me) at 20% the cost. I really like Microsoft. I don't like this pricing structure. I think it hurts them more than helps them. But it's their choices to make.

For clarification and maybe this is what you are looking for me to have said. Microsoft does offer cheaper options for the sp11. The older Surface Pro 8 / 9 / 10 keyboards will work on it. You aren't locked in to having nothing or the flex keyboard. Still to have the cheaper option cost almost $300 is still really expensive for a keyboard and stylus.

I agree and maybe I didn't state that clearly. Yes, it is an option. The reason it bothers me (not that they have the option) it's because cost wise, it's like selling a hamburger for $30 and a cheeseburger for $50. It's not that the burger is expensive. It's that they are charging the equivalent of $20 for a slice of cheese. or in this example Bluetooth "cheese".

Here it is 529€ / $566. That's almost half the price of the Surface Pro (1,199 €). I really don't know what MS is thinking... even Apples Magic Keyboard is a bargain compared to this... and you don't say this every day about Apple products!
