the sunset peacock has me going through all stages of grief upon looking at the price tag... Even worse so because of how justified it is... Absolutely gorgeous pen.

I will say that I have a couple of Taccia's and I love them! At the Dallas show I purchased the Winter's Breath which is my first grail pen. Absolutely over the moon for it.

On loan? Doesn’t Taccia know we love giveaways lol. Thanks for another great review. I always look forward to them.

Im sure youre probably just teasing, haha, but I have to throw this in there: it's a $2,000+ pen, unfortunately. Completely justified in my opinion considering it's uniqueness, exclusivity and the artistry. I can see why they wouldn't want to give any of them away.

First! Sorry, I had to do it. I never get to be first. 😁 Absolutely gorgeous finishes though. The Raden Shadow finish looks *chef's kiss*.

While I'm glad to see that Namiki is finally getting some solid competition, I would personally find it very hard to justify this price to myself compared to the Namiki Emperor or Chinkin models, which in my mind offer a connection to a much longer history of art, as well as a certain heritage. $3000 is a brutal price for a pen, for sure. I mean, it makes the 149 seem rather inexpensive, which is an admirable feat.

The shadow is beautiful, do you like the single thread on the cap? I've been thinking of doing it so my herringbone pen pattern lines up properly
@FigbootonPens2 жыл бұрын
If you want the patterns to line up, then either you need to have a repeating pattern which will line up under any orientation, or just have the single thread. I don't feel anyone really notices whether a pen has a single or muli-entry thread.

These all look stunning. My favorite is actually the rosewood model.

Thank you for everything you do. I have a Lamy 2000 BB and it sings, sqeaks....it gives me chill bumps. What can I do?
@FigbootonPens2 жыл бұрын
You could have a nibmeister check it out and they could slightly alter the nib to reduce the singing.

Ahhh, I love their pens. I SOoooo can't afford them now. Will have to sell some things.

Wish the nib design was more elaborate similar to the Montblanc 149

Very very VERY pretty pens! Out of my price range, but still. David, you say the design on the barrel matches up with the design on the cap. Maybe it looks different on the video but to my eye they don't line up that great. That would really annoy me on such a gorgeous (and expensive) pen. Thanks for the great review!
@FigbootonPens2 жыл бұрын
It's more of the angle the picture was taken. That kind of stuff annoys me as well...and I was good with how well it was aligned.

I just wanted to add that Raden and rankaku placement isn’t what generally takes the time, it’s the building up of layers after placement. Then the polishing! Now of course, placing the shell can take a while and preparing quails egg can be a chore, but you’re talking days, not months for that prep. In fact you could argue that getting the pen prepped for maki-e can almost take the longest! Still these are lovely, albeit pricy pens! If you’re after maki-e but can’t afford thousands, try going to sometime like Yukari Mochizuki. Whilst she’s not cheap, she’s certainly cheaper than taccia. That’s not to discourage people away! Taccia is excellent! But not exactly budget friendly

Wow. Gorgeous. Either one will go great with my $89,000 Model Y Tesla and $1,500 sterling silver tennis ball can from Tiffany. And it is an excellent substitute for Pilot's $15,000 Namiki Emperor Maki-e Goldfish fountain pen.

Maybe this will be a weird comment, but your voice sounded about a bit off this time. Hope you haven't been unwell -- take care! As for the pen, it's stunning but I still didn't expect the price tag. I can see the justification though.
