This is not just some guy in make-up and a tux singing an old 1930's standard. This is an absolute master-class in musical theater. This performance is so subtly nuanced it is breath-taking! Everything from his footwork, hand gestures, the sway of his hips, the way he moves is head (watch for the subtle rocking of his head from side to side) and to the multitude of expressions on his face all scream out a mastery and dedication to his craft that is rarely ever seen either before or since. And that voice! Bravo!!

He performed this song on Dance Fever? Fascinating considering they never actually released this as a single in America. They chose the other single “Cheek To Cheek,” which’s was also, like “Puttin’ On The Ritz”, written by Irving Berlin and had a similar beat and melody and everything.

@@RocStarr913 He performed this on "Dance Fever" shortly after "Puttin' on the Ritz" was dropping down the charts - sometime in the fall of '83. "Cheek to Cheek" was a better cover than this, and should have been a bigger hit than it was.

@@s.hocker9222 It would probably be hard to obtain the Dance Fever performance unless somebody recorded it on their VCR. Dance Fever, like a lot of American television programmes, was produced by a private production studio and I’m sure many of them have closed shop for years in mergers.
