Personally I don't mind the music but it should cut out during the cars work. Cmon any ad you see ever has music, why is that? People generally like to hear organized notes it shouldn't be a big deal. Every now and then one of the 30000 viewers might find a tune they like.

I’ve got the TRD Off road.. that locker saved my ass once already.. I was off roading in 6 inches of snow through the fields.. I was a blast.. 20 minutes go by,no problems, than I start going up an incline at a bad angle and not enough speed... my truck stood still, and little did I know the ground wasn’t frozen so it was mud under the snow. I WAS DUG IN GOOD!! I tried and I tried and I could not get out, noway no how... and I’m with my wife in the middle of no damn where..If I didn’t get out and she was going to have to hike a few miles through the snow there would BE HELL TO PAY!! I tried doing some shoveling with a makeshift crap ass shovel.. didn’t really do anything... than I had a light bulb moment..Take the PSI from 35 down to 17.. I took all four tires down, I was a bit worried though because the belly and everything else already looked hung up UN the snow as it was.... but it was my only option.. so I’ve got the PSI Down, if got 4x4, and I’ve got my rear locker on.. low and behold I rocked her out, but not without a bit of a fight!!! I really don’t think I would have gotten out without the rear locker though.. I’m certain of it.

@@DrivenCompanion if you would've turned traction control off the auto LSD would've helped you as a faux locker. There's videos of it showing it works in 2wd or 4wd engaged, front and rear axles. It takes a while longer to engage (computer thinks where to apply brakes) and not immediate like a real locker but better than nothing and I think it would've helped in the hill climb.

LOL at people who flame sport/sr5 owners for lack of gimmicky things like crawl control. Dude you will need crawl control 1/100 chance and also the average tacoma driver will NEVER use it. Not to mention the fact that a rear diff locker can be added on for a relatively low price, and that will probably get you farther than the stock locker or crawl control will. Yeah its a good back up plan if you off-road every week, but who the heck takes their brand new truck they haven't even paid off out to potentially damage it/void warranty. The average tacoma user buys this truck for commuting, reliability, and low depreciation. Just my 2 cents ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. If you bought an off-road, thats great, but don't flame fellow taco owners because they didn't buy something they don't need.
@DrivenCompanion
@DrivenCompanion 4 жыл бұрын
The SR5 is definitely very capable without multi-terrain select or a locking diff, but I did get stuck in the snow once and figured I'd try crawl control just to see if it helped and it got me out - I think situations where it helps will be rare but its still another tool in the toolbox that could come in handy.

I didnt buy an Offroad cuz all those Nanny electronic traction gimmicks would piss me off, especially If i had to pay extra for them. Even the locker only works in 4Lo? I dont see how anyone could get satisfaction or fun out of Crawl Control, it removes any skill or effort. I still only use 4wd to get unstuck cuz its fun to see how far 2WD and ground clearance actually gets you with tires and talent.

In those conditions, tires, tire pressure, power, clearance, locking diff, and all that aside, if you lose momentum, you are sunk. If you were that worried about the first 2 runs, you should have walked it first and marked obstacles/hazards, but that approach speed was like a tired old dog.

@alexkram
@alexkram 4 жыл бұрын
ATRAC is on TRD Manual trans models only. The TRD Autos have a system called MTS. The SR5s have a less aggressive system called TRAC that does indeed work like limited slip on front and rear axles. in SR5sTRAC is on by default when in 4LO (unlike the TRD versions, where the MTS or ATRAC is off by default and must be turned on manually). See my video where my SR5 can pull itself off jack stands with just one front wheel on the ground. None of us have pumps to reinflate - and the goal was really just to see if we could notice any difference between the two in an apples to apples comparison.

Man what are yall doing? My frontier in 4lo with mud terrains would eat that hill alive. You go up with a pair of nuts on you. Floor it! Hell I would go 4hi traction control off to get the speed going. I don't ever air down I drive like I just robbed the local bank

Yes its always hard to capture slope in videos. Both trucks are sitting up about 2 inches in the front and 1 in the rear.

How would an 03 preform? I have a trd off road prerunner with rear differential that I bought 2 months ago.
@DrivenCompanion
@DrivenCompanion 4 жыл бұрын
You should go test it out and see! 2wd will definitely hold it back some but I've hold the locking diff can make those still fairly capable. I love the look of the 2003 models too - enjoy!

I have a 2012 DCSB SR5 PreRunner v6. It does ok as long as I keep up the momentum. If i let off anywhere soft, its no bueno. On the otherhand, my moms 2016 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 Lmtd climbs hills like its the mall parking lot. She'd kill me if she found out where that jeeps been 🤐 lol

So the crawl control makes the truck climb by itself? Where is the driver abilities and professional, plus i didn’t see any difference between both honestly both of them needed 2 attempts , i might be an old fashion and like to be in control when it comes to driving
@DrivenCompanion
@DrivenCompanion 5 жыл бұрын
I think with the SR5 Matt had to choose a better line and maintain more momentum while Richard could go a little slower and take a more challenging route because of the locking rear diff. Crawl control automatically adjusts the throttle and will allow the truck to climb itself.

@@sunstyle52 but it is an open diff. From what I've read up on it so far its like multi terrain management but only for the rear diff the way it will brake a spinning tire to send power to other side.
