With the fuel setup I really realize how useful and convenient a large fuel tank is. 40gal needed for your trip, and with the 36gal tank on my F-150, I'd only need one extra can.
@EAGLINWRX Жыл бұрын
That is if you are also running at 12mpg off-road. If you’re averaging lower you’ll need more.
@paxundpeace9970 Жыл бұрын
You likely consume more fuel then usually off road so plan with two extra cans for a trip like that and maybe even an additional spare. Second have not only one fire extinguisher have two small one's like he had and a large one. Maybe get some more water too.

We just figured out the shower system, got the little pop up privacy tent, and pool noodle around the bucket top as toilet for the wife. It does need to be expensive it just needs to work and save space while keeping everyone comfortable and happy. It is fun figuring out systems that work. The planning, prepping and building is part of the journey so I appreciate you sharing.

Regarding fuel, I'd recommend fitting an auxiliary fuel tank underneath the truck in the same place as the stock spare tire goes. Remove that and you can fit a large tank. We did that and along with a 2" body lift it enabled us to have close to 70 gallons of fuel. All underneath the truckbed in a self-contained system. Useful when snow wheeling in a 44" modified Tacoma in Iceland.

Better to be over prepared from a survival standpoint than not. Especially going off grid and into the wilderness. Only thing they are missing is a gun/rifle to protect themselves from bears/cougars/wolves and other animals. Or hunt for food.

Wow....very nice truck. Very nice gadgets/gear. Gotta be over $100k in that thing. Not trying to hate...but this sort or giant money corporate sponsor style of build is getting a bit old. Slow mo on all the logos and calling out specific brand names. I hope guys that are new to the hobby or guys w families who don't have sponsors/giant disposable incomes realize that you don't need anywhere near this amount of stuff to take a trip like that. I've done that trail many times and for the most part a stock 4x4 can do it. Twice a year I take off road trips where I don't see pavement for days/hundreds of miles. I don't take anywhere near this much stuff. A shower?? Really? C'mon guys. PS why are you packing 100k worth of gear and using dollar store instant coffee in a French press. That's just plain wrong.

@Franz Hernandez that’s awesome man. I figured all it takes for those who aren’t sponsored or very wealthy already is limited outside responsibility, and good financial planning. I see you have a lot of vids on ur EVO. Looks great. Hope to see some of a taco or something soon!
@christianlamar12953 жыл бұрын
@Franz Hernandez coming from somebody with some off-road experience, have done a number of runs with groups in Nevada, Cali, and Arizona, the Tacoma is probably your best bet if you want to really go places. A lot of those trails can be pretty narrow and those are some expensive trucks that may likely take a beating. Taco’s can almost go anywhere a Jeep can depending on how you build it. They are all great options tho. Just don’t be afraid of scratches down the length of whatever you get. Just wanted to dive my 2 cents.

An RV can't go where that truck can go by a massive margin. You stick to the highways my friend and let us over-landers do what we do; after all, we don't mind not having a 50 amp plug and water hookups and picnic table. Why don't you unhook the umbilical chord of society and do some actual exploring?

BCB the pony express trail is a glorified dirt road. I’ve pulled an RV over much worse terrain. You could do the PET in a CRV if you wanted to lol

Beautiful build and setup for a long trip, pretty heavy load though, try getting through any mud ridden areas are definitely going to be challenging,even with a winch. Really interesting to see all the different supplies. I hope that your journey is fun for you.😎👍

To be fair, these guys do this professionally. Like, building Tacoma’s and dealing with parts like this is their whole gig. And they do it very well.

This is next level glamping. You've never actually spent any time outdoors if you think you need all this for a trip barley half the length of Texas.

How did we get ready? We spent, and spent, and spent, and spent... Then we spent some more. You should, too! Everybody knows: a true, deep back country experience depends entirely on the gadgets you haul in, and the oh-so-very manly rig you haul ‘em in on. So grab your wallet, and get out there!!!!!
