I had done this trip a few times, very safe but it’s always a good idea to travel with other peoples. I did me and my now wife, a little be worried but Thanks God it all went well. About two years ago I jump from La Paz to Mexico main land an went to almost the border with Guatemala. Definitely not recommend, very dangerous I feared for my life more than a couple times. I was driving my rebuilt 1992 Toyota Truck 4x4. Thanks God the truck performed flawlessly. Baja California any time. 👍🏾
