The 7th Legion Astartes were not the most popular, but their martial skill and mastery of void warfare saw them win great renown. Led by the Primarch Rogal Dorn, the Imperial Fists stood loyal in the Horus Heresy and would play a vital role in defending the Imperium they had helped to build. This is their story.

I mean... Perturabo didn't give a fig about his son's. So it totally makes sense for his character to do that. Perturabo never cared for anyone. His story when he first arrives on his planet is a good one. Shows how in the beginning he tried to help people simply cause he saw them as weak. Even when they gave him gifts for helping them, he rejected them cause he saw how poor quality they were and just tossed them. Which really shows his mindset about anyone. It also says that he always wanted to build things and make art, not just make stuff that has to do with war. Him and Dorn are similar in this way except Perturabo wants to do it just to show how he is the best at it in the galaxy. He isn't doing it out of the love of it. Rogal wants to build things to improve the imperium and citizens lives simply cause he has a good heart. He can be brutally honest but at end of the day he actually cares. Which is what makes their rivalry so great cause they are just two sides of same coin. Also I think Perturabo is gonna be retconned a bit. Showing how he never became a deamon prince like he is now cause he never wanted to be a slave to chaos. I think this is why we never had artwork from GW showing what he look like as a Daemon Prince. He stays a traitor for sure but never sides with chaos in that way. Which makes total sense with the way they have written in the Heresy books. He mocks his brothers for becoming their slaves. Cause really he is the best choice to be chaos warmaster but probably doesn't want it cause he just wants to do what he wants. Cause he clearly is the best choice for that job. He sacrifice everything to win and for chaos that's not really a big deal. Even his own body guards are automated soldiers cause he never trust any of his son's to guard him. Cause I mean why would they love him. First thing he ever did as primarch is kill one out of every ten just because he seen them as failures without ever seeing them fight. I mean that's the worst thing a primarch did to his legion at first. Even angron didn't go that far.

I know that I render a number of criticisms, corrections, and comments, but please accept my broad compliments upon your completion of this pretty noteworthy accomplishment. You have done a phenomenal job and your videos have gotten better through this series in my opinion. This is why I refer anybody that wants to become familiar with Warhammer 30/40k. You have done great work. Here are my customary extras: Russ believed that the White Scars and the Dark Angels were the best void fighters as mentioned in "Wolf King", as well, Magnus believed that Angron and the Lion were the best combatants, according to "The Crimson King", and that the Lion had the heart and mind of a scholar but was too stuck in his mission. I just thought that was interesting. The Lion believed that the Fists and the Ultramarines were the best run legions, for whatever that actually means, it is high praise for the Imperial Fists. The Five Spheres might have been a reference to Musashi's "Book of 5 Rings". Do you think that it is difficult to claim that Alpharius was not slain by Dorn when the combat prowess of his killed opponent was adequate to wound Dorn multiple times? It was a question of physical, mental, martial, and supernatural capacities while using the Pale Spear. I have a hard time thinking that it wasn't either Alpharius or Omegon. I may be a loyal 1st Legion fan and Lion partisan, but the Fists are the one legion of the stalwart brothers of the loyalists. There were none as loyal of the Fists, and every loyal within the Imperium has a special place in their hearts for the sons of Dorn. Again, great work.

Well in my experience individuals with the right combination of, conviction, bravery and skill with the emperor's guiding hand can accomplish many a feat that would leave others in awe of them...also from what I remember his visit to commoragh was was a result of him jumping into a webway portal trying to evade you. Basically it was by dumb luck he ended up there and emperor only knows how he got out.

Most people think it was just the Imperial Fists, Crimson Fists, and Black Templars, but the Excorciators were founded back then too. As much as I love the Wolves (if it weren't obvious) - and I play Blood Angels, so I'm fairly fanatically loyal to them - I have to say that if I were choose a legion or chapter to take into battle, I would take the Fists or one of their descendants without a second thought. Salamanders and Iron Hands would be second and third choices respectively. Honestly, the only one I would never take is the Dark Angels. Personsl grudge, sure, but... ya know... dwarfs.

If I recall, didn't Sigismund duel Abaddon, during which the Despoiler would state that he would defeat sigismund only because the warp hadnt aged him? After the battle, Sigismund's body was returned to the Fists, cleaned and ready for a proper burial

Yes, that has since come to light. However, when I wrote and recorded the script for this video I don't believe that Black Legion (the book the duel happens in) had been released and if it had it certainly hadn't been for long, hence I didn't have that information to add it in unfortunately.

The logic I believe was that the 4th Legion would suffer such heavy losses in defeating the Imperial Fists that they would never recover, especially if Perturabo died. I'm not an expert on these sorts of things, but I can see where the idea comes from.

I have meant in particular the Iron Cage incident where in wiki are said that the defenders were taking grevious looses. Sadly, it is not how war works out and for me it is silly to listen. When an army stroms the castle, looses are not equal on both sides. It is heavily favored by the defender and knowing that Imperial Fists were outplayed bad by Perturabo badly and no redeeming factor was to found there. If not for Ultramarine sending a rescue force, Imperial fists as an Rogal Dorn would had all have died there at the cost of only marginal to noticable looses for Iron Warriors. I'm really tired pro loyalist bias in literature. We have traitors to be just a beating bag for the incredible exploits for the heroes. Sometimes it goes so pathetic that I have to rewrite the novel in my head in order for it be feasable and not complete tale. In this case, it is fine for Imperial Fists to outfight Iron warriors in space, but it is not fine for Iron Warriors to outdo Imperial fists in siege warfare? This childish bias for loyalist which is often found in literature is something which I really, really hate.

For example, legions at that counted for around 100,000 marines. Yet, writers seem to be ignorant of their own lore. World bearers had utterly decimated utrasmurfs on Calth, yet, they are returning to Terra with its full strength? Here, 400 is tragedy? This is mere annual recruit numbers for Imperial Fists. It would be a tragedy for a chapter, but not the legion. I see a lot of such issues in lore where authors cannot handle the complexities of writting for w40k anymore and they start writing utter gibberish. Thus, I have to declare certain books and sources as non cannon and merely "tales of warhammer". A "delusional rant for chaos craze heretic" and nothing more.

Side point, the Imperial Fists WERE the best in space, period. Also no-one debates the Iron Warriors were winning in the Iron Cage, merely that wiping the Imperial Fists out may have been difficult to do without heavy losses as they themselves were now dug in. You should also consider the fact that much Heresy-era literature is written from an Imperial standpoint, AND that "history is written by the victors" in this case the Imperials thanks to Guilliman and co. As a final point, I wouldn't go calling out or invalidating works or authors, since without them (even if there are inconsistencies) this universe would never go anywhere anymore. If that's your opinion then fair enough, you do you, but I'm happier trying to rationalise things than write them off even if it makes things difficult

Ben Counter. Battle for the Abyss. A single captain with a single light cruiser manages to destroy a cutting edge battleship. That is more, despite everything which was thrown at them, they just ultrasmufed their way out of trouble. At the end I could not bear to read it. It had so much plot armour that you could send him to singlehandedly defeat a tyranid tendril and tyranids would not had a chance. So, in order for it to be feasable, I have to declare it as "tales of w40k" and consider that this battleship run into that reimained of ultrasmurfs navy, outside of calth, destroying several cruiseds, destroyers. Killing thousands of ultramarines in boarding actions. You know, I need to make this story somewhat based in reality. I agree that Imperial fists were better at space, but at the same time, having wikia and analysis claim that both sides were to suffer "extreme" looses really take away a good shunk out of the story. It is not a tragedy anymore if Imperial Fists had caused "extreme" looses to Iron Warriors. It was mere slaughter on the equal footing. The issue which I have is either it is a bolter porn, some other ridiculous bullshit like Caldor Draigo carving his name in the heart of Primarch or it is new lore which is an utter lore rape. Like Guiliman resurecting since "Primarchs that is how". Stasis fields do not work that way. If a primarch was dying then he will be dying and after 10.000 years. There are countless such things like Imperials trusting eldars, ork rocks appearing all across the galaxy, being unstopabble only to be stopped everywhere all at once. Warp rifts opening up everywhere without proper procedures. This is what I hate. I love w40k lore. I have such rare books like Liberia Chaotica. I understand how everything runs in this galaxy and that is according to the lore and that is not. Sadly, a lot of writters seemingly have a lot lower standards when it comes to their own work than I do as a fan.

aka, the chapter that wouldn't even exist to this day if not for Guilliman and his super mehreens saving them and Dorn's Arse in the iron cage. Even if dorn still is alive (which many hopeful imperial fist players dream that he is) I would like to see him come back and have one last round against perturabo so we can finally see who is the better primarch/legion. But what am I saying? He's probably dead so we may never see that.

Give him a break, Dorn, Emperor bless him, is DEAD. He is a dead hero of the Imperium who's legacy was maybe the best legion, but he is DEAD. Only since GW became enamored with bringing primarchs back to life do the dreamy eyed romantics think that Dorn the One Handed was surviving on that ship when he was overwhelmed and trying to run. Listen, the Lion was always just asleep according to the lore. Guilliman was always in stasis. Alpharius has always been a shadowy serpent. Dorn was dead. Dorn is dead. Sanguinius is dead. Sanguinius was dead. The big loser known as Ferrous Manus is D E A D. The Lion is sleeping, the Lion rules, the Lion is the Lord of the First and Tzeench will quake when he rises again at the call of the Emperor. The First Legion will unite and run the heretics out of the Imperium and Roboute can manage the logistics while the Lion crushes the quivering cowards of Chaos. Hail to the Emperor and the Lion!

Except for when they lose. . . a lot. . . . you read "Perturabo", right? The monologue from Perturabo's sister was CLASSIC!!! It laid down exactly why Perturabo always finds a way to skulk in emo-tears regardless of how he is treated. The Iron Warriors would be great, if Perturabo would have let them. Perturabo simply quit the Imperium because the Emperor didn't give him enough hugs and pats on the head for turning every effort into a slogging, mass casualty, grind-fest. Even when the Lion did him a solid, trusted and respected him enough to gave him the Siege Cannon from Diamat, he screwed him. Perturabo basically screws everybody loyal to him: his adoptive father, his sister, the Emperor, the Lion, Magnus, Olympia, Barabbas Dantioch, etc. The Fists are twice the legion that the 3rd were. Hail to the Emperor and the Lion! Death to heretics.
