It's worth mentioning that 5.56 AR are one the most popular hunting rifles of native Inuit people in Alaska, they use them to hunt everything, including moose, on a regular basis, and polar bears have been dropped by it too. Is it ideal, well ask the Inuit, bigger rounds may be preferable, but that's all relative because it means more expense more recoil, more weight. AR in 5.56 is something that can take a rabbit and a moose on the same hike, and to people that live off the land that's important. How are the AR dropping moose, pretty simple, in the head. Now I'm not saying if you are going on your once in a lifetime moose or bear hunt in Alaska you should take a AR in 5.56 that would be a really bad idea probably, and you will be better off with a .300 win mag or something, but as a survival sustainment rifle, 5.56 absolutely works, it's all shot placement.

so, some of my really good friends moved to Alaska about ten years ago and they do hunt with AR’s, but they’re running 12.5” 6.5 creedmores on a very normal basis. I run an 8” 8.6 blackout for everything, soon to switch from a AR platform to a bolt action

Man, Midwest and Mad Pig have been on a PR tear lately. They do look pretty sick. I went for a Ranger Point Precision build for my Henry 44 X instead with a PA Cyclops 2 prism. Would highly recommend their stuff as well for those of us in AR restricted states; quality is top notch, look is a little less "tacticool" imo and you can still use the mag tube loading port with their gen 2 handguard if you don't know how to work a loading gate.

@@bryanlatta1056 The big thing this does is just knock out the “Shockwave” that 5.56 throws out; it’s barely a suppressor. There’s nothing THAT cheap worth getting; generally you can’t have good and cheap, but their Mod 0 is a bit better than the canooter, and detachable so you can use it on multiple firearms- is a better buy and one I still plan to purchase
