This video was great. I own a Kubotan which is a similar self defense weapon and I will definitely practice these movies with my Kubotan to be prepared. I've watched other self defense video and I would prefer to use these moves than many of the other ones that I've seen. Keep 'em coming ttellc!

Good stuff. I recently ordered a pen like the one shown to use as a self defense tool for until I turn 21 and can obtain a CCW permit for a handgun, but even after that I intend to keep the pen on me for a less-lethal option. It's good to see examples of how the pen can be utilized and it's impressive how much can be done with a couple inches of pen sticking out of your fist.

You need a tactical pen first so this techniques come in handy... thanks for making this video i have my own tactical pen. This will help a lot for widening my knowledge for self defense.

Excellent. I was unsure how the pens were actually used and this demo was great. Thanks.

I agree with you 100%. "under the adrenaline dump it would be easier to just hold the kobotan in your hand and flail away..."

I own a Smith and Wesson tactical pen and strongly advise people keep a kubotan on their person. It allows you produce - immediately - an unanticipated situation for your assailant. Producing this situation saved my life - and my family's - from armed home intruders last year. I produced that effect with another defensive weapon but the principle is the same; surprise your assailant by being prepared. Always.

so what im learning is, stay totally self aware, recognize whats happening, and react appropriately to that event. most importantly, STAY AWARE, its so damned easy to lose awareness in a fight. you have to have to have to have to, a thousand times, stay self aware.

This is about someone trying to pull you or take you somewhere you don't want to go. There are other moves for fight situations, but this is mainly against attackers that intend to pull you in.

Years of train will turn these complicated techniques into instinct, I've been practicing martial arts for 8 years now, and I've noticed that when people touch me I have the instinct to grab them back and put them in a position that I have control over.

Super deadly self defence techniques using super deadly weapons such as pens, pencils, and small twigs.

I have to agree with you here, most people aren't going to remember armbars and wrist techniques when someone is trying to mug them. When things like this happen, it takes a good amount of muscle memory to know what to do otherwise it'll be sloppy and ineffective. Great techniques if used correctly, not recommended to the inexperienced.

Thanks - lots of great techniques here to pick from and practice. A pen, even a cheap plastic one, is one of many things can be a defense weapon of opportunity when caught off guard. G Bowes

i own the CRKT tactical pen,and i love it.not to shit on the video or the instructor,but we all know that this is different if the person attacking is a nutcase or a professional fighter. Seriously, have the guy actually attack,i bet you it will be a lot more difficult to perform any of these moves.An attacker is always moving.I know these are techniques, but having that guy just stand there and "ALLOWING" you to do whatever you want is not a real life scenario. just my 2c.

What are some good tactical pens. I was looking at the uzi pen with the glassbreaker end. Would that be good or might there be a better one? Im looking under 50$. Thanks. Great vid by the way!

hey very nice, thanks for sharing. Do you have experiences with plastic tactical pens? I like the Tops tactical pen that can be worn like a necklace, but I am not sure if it durable enough for all your techniques?

Was there a crown/DNA catcher on the end of this pen? Was it a striking surface tip or a glassbreaker tip or does it matter?

@newtubetubetube yeah :P I just settled for a Staedtler permanent compact marker, I make use of it in the day and I know how to use it thanks to martial arts training to decent effect if I must, but I only use weapons if I'm faced with them, prefer a good old fist fight if I'm honest ;D

Is something known, in which police departments at the World use kubotan? If something has answers, I'd be happy to receive them - including links to research and contacts in these organizations.

Gort1961 made a wise suggestion. In a real fight, remembering techniques might hamper reaction time. Just hammering the spiked end of the pen into the dude's vital spots--throat, eyes, ears, will do magic.
@706d12 жыл бұрын
I see very few times where a tactical pen is useful. Id rather have a knife, and knives are acceptable to bring into most places.
@gort196112 жыл бұрын
great techniques...BUT, for the novice under the adrenaline dump it would be easier to just hold the kobotan in your hand and flail away. getting hit with the tiny end of the device will hurt like a mofo and believe me, trying to remember a complicated technique like these is best left to those who train under the adrenalin dump. Still, great techniques

If someone is coming at me unarmed I wouldn't feel justified in using a lethal weapon. Like a regular fight for example. A 200 Lumen flashlight on strobe in one hand and a pen or some other blunt object in the other hand would more than put me at an advantage
@snapcountsucks12 жыл бұрын
Actually you're wrong. After G.S.W. to the head it tends to make you hyper-vigilant. Add to that years of Martial arts and being a former M.P. I think i'll react just fine. That looked like a U.S.T.A. flag on the back right wall, is it?

They are in a close combat situation. Taking out a weapon in that distance would not be tactically sound.

this is for using tactical pen. Tactical pens are made of aluminum and are very sturdy. they often have sharp glass breaker points and will crush skulls even when used by someone with proper training.

So true... hahahah this wont work... the only thing i see this useful is by just using it to hit somebody with it as you throw regular punches... or actually stabbing somebody in the neck, but who wants to do that...
