A simple concept, great for concealment but not so great in an emergency situation. Having to fumble with magnetic keys while under duress would only place you in more danger. Stick to a quick open safe and live to tell your neighbours what happened, or keep using the shelves and become a statistic on the local evening news. My two cents only. (From a survivor of an armed home invasion) PS - The boys who showed up at my door won't be showing up at any more doors... ever.

Watching this video makes me furious that we haven't banned magnets yet. Who actually 'needs' a magnet today? You can't hunt with a magnet, and when our founding fathers created the second amendment, they did not intend on regular citizens having high capacity magnets that are capable of polarizing several rounds of magnetism per minute. In those days, they just had single-gravity magnets that took two minutes to re-magnetize. Assault magnets are capable of magnetizing too many people and thus need to be banned. It should not be legal for a teenager to be able to walk into any magnet store and walk out with a magnet that they can take to school and magnetize their classmates with. We've had 432 mass magnetisms in our schools in 2018 alone, and here's some guy talking about hiding magnets in his house to use against intruders. It's barbaric and it needs to stop.

Install shelves like these and other 'concealment' places around the home. Then buy a cheap yet sturdy looking gun safe & place it in a hidden yet obvious place such as in the corner of a closet. Store valuables in concealed places, leave gun safe empty. Thieves find the safe fairly easy, spend their time on it, nvr bother to look for other storage areas. Problem solved.

Seriously, with that many guns in the house, it would be rather easy for a trained burglar to find out the hollows and crevices where one could hide things. What about the 180 degree approach? Hide them in Plain Sight? I mean, turn your house into a true magazine, with loads of racks with stacks of guns and ammo lying around... BUT they're all dummies! Only the owner knows where to find the one or two working and loaded guns. Example: the partly dismantled gun that looks like its being repaired while in fact it's like a Second Death Star and Fully Operational. Or: the mops that are neatly in the corner but which turns out to be a functional 5.56 AR after a paintjob and some added 'camo.'

I’ve seen these before and while it’s a very cool concept I agree with the majority of the comments in regards to it just not being practical for home defense due to the method and time it takes to access a firearm should you need one very quickly. Cool conversation piece for sure and definitely a cool way to keep your firearms out of sight if someone was to burglarize your house but that’s about as far as they go for me.
@cronicjointpain110 жыл бұрын
Its a good idea but I think it can be executed better. I personally don't like how you have to get the magnets and put them both on before you can access the guns. when nano seconds count, the magnets might just be seconds away. in other words, what if it takes too long to go through that whole procedure? I guess it beats having to open a safe, but there's gotta be a quicker way. plus, I think totally custom/unique options would be the way to go because once something like this is mass produced and enough people have them, the gig is kinda up and it will be fairly common knowledge that these exist and people are using them. I don't know, just my thoughts on the matter.
@TallCommander10 жыл бұрын

They all have a tell tale give away. The circles on the bottom of the shelf where you set the magnets. As these become common knowledge outside of the gun community then they become targets. I have used something similar of my own design before but when I saw these hit the market I had to change my tactics. Just like the first time I saw the stair hiding place where the treads fold up to get to the guns. Saw it on youtube and fb had to change that in my house too.. My old refrigerator gun cabinet is now an ammo cabinet. I know you all want to make money or show your brilliance but a hiding place is only as good as the knowledge of that hiding place. How many crooks look for false books, hide a key rocks, and false electric plugs now?
