I'm shallow all summer long being a bank guy. I'm catching smallmouth in less than a foot of water at times. They practically beach themselves pinning prey on shore. I'm always finessing but love to try and get topwater going, Matt's tip to walk a frog in open water has helped me catch a couple more fish. Actually A LOT of Tactical's tips have helped me catch fish in ways I hadn't before, I kinda got stuck ONLY finessing for a few years cuz it works so good haha

Love you guys.. and your always spot on. My daughter and I fished in the horrible heat last friday and caught a ton of fish. Both really shallow and at 10 feet. Peeps thought we were nuts. Hahah. We caught a crazy amount of Bass

You two are by far some of the best on youtube. I don't understand why you don't have as many subscribers as some of the yahoos, but I realise it's not about that as I "get to know you guys".I've come a long ways in bass fishing thanks this channel. Anywho...get better Matt and keep grinding, Tim!

hey Tim! what's up Matt? im a huge huge fan of the channel! you're the first channel i go to when I'm looking for tips, usually after a day of fishing and learn things and also question things when I'm out on the water. i apologize in advance for the long comment. i have a small electric bass boat.. and i do a ton of bank fishing when i only have a little bit of time to fish. i live right next to 2 pretty big lakes separated by a 2 lane st roughly 150 acres each. very clear, pretty shallow. deepest point is 15-20 ft. im a pretty good fisherman and understand pretty well how bass react. temperature. water temp. cloud cover, and im completely obsessed this year. bought the boat. switched to baitcasting, spent hundreds on lures and plastics.. follow all your tips.. yet i struggle mightily.. i catch fish... but one or two here and there.. but nothing over 2lbs.. getting frustrated.. i will not quit.. but i wanna have fun while fishing and produce.. ever experience this??? thanks guys!

Frogs are the best NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. You are so right about not giving up in the summer. As a bank fisherman/Kayak guy. Summer produces me the most bites and some of my biggest fish. I live in the North east so we have crazy weather changes though out the year, but the summer bite tends to be the most fun for me. For me here in the New England area. Weightless texas rigged stick bait (Im a yum dinger guy) , Hollow Frog, and Chatterbait/Spinner absolutely slay from spring to fall. Great vid guys.

Everything you said in this video is so true you guys are on point all the time. It's been super hot down here in South Florida with a major algae bloom going on Okeechobee fishing it's been really tough and it's been really hot. My partner and I stayed off the main Lake areas and started focusing on real shallow cover and we've gotten on some really good fish the last two weekends in a foot to a foot and a half of water up in the root balls, branches and heavy cover. I wacked them flipping while my partner was throwing a buzzbait and weightless senkos weedless. Thanks for the vids guys.

Had my first tough summer day of fishing yesterday. Fish seemed active on the graph with tons of bait balls everywhere but I just couldn't land much. Shallow wasn't working, deep bottom was working and top water. Had to adjust a bit and caught a few on Keitechs swimming through the water column at about 10ft in 30ft of water. They were definitely active, just hard to catch. The night bite was decent though in shallow waters dragging jigs. Hopefully it's not a repeat for the rest of summer. Keep up the great tips!

Fat impact keitech is my favorite topwater bait. Try it. Use a keel weighted swimbait hook, maybe a 1/8 oz. I like the slender vmc (seems like all I see now are the ones with the bulky triangular weight. Not sure they stilll make the slender ones). Hold your rod tip very high and troll it across the top. Sometimes just barely breaking the water. Beautiful subtle plopping sound and movement that is very natural. You can also drop it down deeper, drag across mats. It's great!

Shallow fishing. Wow, I had an excellent day yesterday out in the Holey Lands here in South Florida fishing shallow. The canal system has lily pads between 6 to 12 feet from the shore and the bass (small and large) hidie under the lily pads waiting to ambush prey. I threw a purple\black jig (3/8 oz) with a craw color trailer and I was killing them. Total of 10 Bass in 3 hours. Ranging from 3 pounds down to .5. Fun day!!!
@craigconn68786 жыл бұрын
I agree. Once the frog and the topwater bite starts...fish numbers drop for exactly that reason. Hooked on blowups!
@manifestgtr5 жыл бұрын
You guys aren’t kidding about frogs. Something about a frog explosion...especially those crazy, out of nowhere hits that make you jump...there’s nothing else like it in fishing This year, my best shallow water baits have been frogs, toads, flukes and swimjigs. They’ve just been murdering those baits around me this year. Flukes are a similarly exciting bite. That boil in the water followed by a green flash.
@scottbunning67376 жыл бұрын
Dude so Lucky I feel like they keep uploading videos of the exact type of question I have I’ve been dealing with these shallow fish for a few weeks now unfortunately I’m on the bank but I’ve had the fish hit the frog more than anything else besides the craw

this is seriously the only way i can catch them, after the sun has been up for an hour. i can only bank fish, and all i do is drop my jig, creature bait or worm in to small 6 in-1 foot pockets. and i always get a bite. i dangle it over the branches and let it stir up some water. i usually get a bite and make another pitch after the bite, and they slam it. you guys got the sauce as always and for once i actually do the same thing as you guys and it makes me see that im learning. and know matter what you know about the water, you'll end the day by learning something new.

One thing I have an issue with in the summer is finding fish in large expanses of topped out weeds. Hard to get a moving bait through and flipping is very hit or miss. I normally scrap the weed pattern and fish rock because it is less of a headache but I am sure there are some giants in there.

i went out this weekend super early. and ya the fish are running the shallows early am and running them fast... well that day was no wind somehow and cloudy so i could see down in the water better then most days. and i would see schools of 1 lbers along with a few nice ones with them just cruising shorelines super fast targeting their food like 10 yards away the bad thing they ignored all my baits i got a couple small ones but ya they come and go through so fast some is timing for sure. each time i caught a small one though they fought hard as heck for their size and big ones were trailing them up to me.. im on banks. castaic. most the cover here is underwater. its funny we do have some reeds like your vid but its past the no trespassing sign on the lower lagoon. iver never got a top water bite.. the funny thing is i used to toss them here and there. and sadly even if i did have a fish come up it would come up and splash near the bait or miss it because i yanked it as it was coming up and i didnt know it was about to get hit.. so ya i gave up on that. i did see a school of nice ones like 6 all around 3-4 lbs but they came and went so fast... idk castaic is diff from every lake.. the fish here move a lot.. i dont think ive ever caught the same fish around the same spot ever..
