This ship is growing on me, but the grind was mind numbing. I found that even though she only has 4 guns, the firing angles are actually pretty good. You don’t need to be broadside to get all four to bear. They also hit hard. I actually got 10 citadels in one game. I prefer the 6 torpedo set up because they reload really fast compared to the 10 set up. By no means a Japanese or German torpedo boat, but a functional Russian destroyer. By functional, I mean torpedoes that go a decent distance. If paired with twist and track, this boat is effective in the right hands. You are on point with average as a description, but that’s a huge step forward for a Russian destroyer. Nice to see new material from you!! My condolences to you on your 60 hour weeks. I’ve also been doing them since July too. Makes grinding tough! Nice video.

Thanks, Richard! I think I am going to pin it on this video, because I think your opinion is good and fair on the Ognevoi. I do my best to present ships fairly, but by no means is the one game that I show the one and only way. Thanks again for your comment and continued support. On the bright side, I think this month will be a bit better on my schedule. 🙂

Great seeing another video of yours tacticangel. Eventhough it is about a ship from a nation i have no interest in aquiring, it was nice to listen to the history of Ognevoi and to learn something new as the solviet navy is in many parts a mystery. Anyway's it was nice to hear from you again and i shall wait for whatever your next video is going to be :)

Thanks, Lukas. It's really hard to research the Soviet Navy, which makes me think it was far more disastrous than than they wanted to admit.

@@tacticangel i can believe that. I also just suspect that they disregarded the importance of a navy as no one challanged them in that regard since the russo-japanese war i think. So for them to neglect resources to be put into the navy is justafiable as they would rather invest it into airforce and T-34-85's especially when they were starting to win on the eastern front.

Nice, thorough review. I've only played 3 games so far but I'm loving that 10 torp spread just like you. If only their speed were a little higher; That's my only real complaint. You can work around everything else. I also found that she has a very low profile so can be hard to hit from distance for enemies.

It would have been a disaster for Legends if this ship was over powered - the grind was real and would have put most people off. I enjoyed the relief of finishing the grind and not playing another horrific rumble - The good thing is that so few players went for objectives so in some games you could snatch almost all of them. Play it like a Japanese destroyer and it can be very fun - Surprise Citadels on Atlanta, Schors, Aoba and Nurnberg from 6 kilometers feels good if they are low health - (Full health and you only have yourself to blame)

I've only had a couple of occasions to hit cruisers, and the guns seemed to work. Still, I'd prefer to keep my distance. 😀

The Benham is a bit more wonky. Ognevoi is a pretty standard destroyer with nice torpedo spreads, so I imagine she'll appeal to a lot of people like that. Also, congrats on earning her.

Was hoping to see your review on the Cheshire, but I guess another Russian junk is more important. Granted the Cheshire might not be a good ship, I still valued your thoughts and opinions on them. Hope you do one soon........

Enjoyable review, as always, sir...but yeah, not at all interested in the ship...Russian DDs are awful, and when they come out with one that isn't compete garbage, it's behind a masochistic grind challenge...not worth it.

Ship wasn't particularly my cup of Stoli and neither was the grind for it, so an easy pass. An entertaining review nonetheless.

22:27 - So his back turret fires off and brings you down to 6,700 HP and at that point all of his main guns have been fired off now and are reloading, so you're telling me that just his secondaries hit you after that for enough of a chunk to do over 3k more damage and start fires and break your steering etc.? In the PC version with a non secondary spec'd Russian BB like that even that close you'd be lucky to get 1-2 hits landed and they always tend to do peanuts for damage individually. No lie, his back turret salvo did the same amount of damage if not less than 2-3 of his secondaries hitting you, which just struck me as a little different in this version than what I'm used to on PC. Also, you can tell the framerate is garbage on this version of the game, and this is supposed to be on a PS4 I think your intro showed? PS4 is capable of some serious graphics so apparently WG has a ways to go for learning to optimize their game for console... They're just now starting to get the hang of optimizing for PC lol and that's after 5 years of the game being out now, so yea I'm guessing console and mobile versions are gonna have to wait a while haha. Ognevoi I'm pretty sure is tier VIII on PC and it's a regular tech tree ship not a premium, so this is a little strange to see the differences like this on WG's other versions of what should be the same game you'd think.

Generally speaking, secondaries aren't that effective in Legends. I'd say a bit less effective than in PC, but there's a good deal of variety in terms of accuracy between ships there. (On Legends, it's just, generally bad.) Sometimes you just get lucky/unlucky, depending on what side of the equation you're on, but driving that close definitely gives the secondaries a notable advantage.

Is it just me but I was more interested looking at how much how many gold, silver, xp and 600+ days that you have than the stats for the Russian destroy lol. Apart from that some good info Angel 👍

Tacticangel.. I know your not a fan of the event commanders but would Rumble or Sergio Splendento be better or offer a different play style ( Torpedo Boat ) than the three Russian commanders ?

I don't have Spendento and, other than in the even mode, I have never used him on a ship in the game so I can't really say.

I've been pulling several 60 hour work weeks the last few weeks. I do enjoy making videos, but they do take a long time for me to put together and they do resemble work. If I have the energy, I have been playing for fun, but I think the next two or three weeks should be better where I'll try to play some catch up.
