Thanks for filming with full frame camera on the Altura 8mm. I was wondering how much coverage it had. Looks like a 29.5mm image circle from taking a screenshot of your video and doing some basic calculations.

Yes, full frame. Mentioned in the beginning. Nikon D810 or something.

Samyang and Rokinon are the same brand. Samyang is for Asia and Rokinon for America (the continent). The 8mm f3.5 fisheye is actually a lens for APS-C sensor. They do have a 12 mm f2.8 fisheye.

Just bought the Rokinon 8mm for my canon 5D MK2, super keen. Do you think vignetting is a desirable look or should I to crop it in post? Or is it really personal preference?
@WILLYPSHREDS2 жыл бұрын
Literally just tried that combination and was kinda interested to see how it'll look when I actually get out and film. What have your impressions been??
@liem.t2 жыл бұрын
@@WILLYPSHREDS I actually really liked it. My first time filming skateboarding without using an iPhone and I think the footage already looks great with that combination. I scaled the videos in Prem Pro. You can check out what it looks like in my recent video. I want to get a 6D MK2 for 60fps as the 30fps is sometimes choppy and fast flip tricks can look a little blurry. Slo motion is also poor. But was very pleased with how the combination looked off the bat.

It only makes sense to do such comparisons if you enclose the information on what camera it was shot on and what was the crop factor. Without that it's difficult to predict how it will look like (vig etc.) on other cameras i.e. speedboosted MFT.

@TadashiFilters4 жыл бұрын
Tough question. What system r u using? If u got a full frame canon u might be able to find a used 15mm canon lens. Or if your Nikon the 10.5mm or 16mm used. U will get the best quality with those lenses but might be more pricy. Besides that just try a Rokinon and see how u like it and upgrade later when I have the funds. With more expensive glass u will see the quality difference.

Thanks for the comparison, Nikon 10.5 is my favourite from the bunch. Could You do canon lenses as well
@TadashiFilters10 ай бұрын
That would be a great lens to compare in a video like this. I personally use nikon bodies so that's why it didn't make it into this video. I would venture to guess the nikon 8-15mm is pretty close to the canon but depending on what body it's on

Not too familiar with those 4/3 cameras, i think u might have to do some cropping in post. I've heard by using the canon 8-15mm (set at 10mm) w/ metabones or gobe adapter that it will produces great results.

Hi, a bit late but... I have the GH5 +Viltrox Speedbooster 0.71 + 8mm Wallimax Fisheye (basically a Rokinon/Samyang ) 8mm. I just started filming with this setup. My videos on the channel so far are filmed with the canon m50 and a 7artisan 7.5 fisheye. But I'm pretty satisfied with my gh5 setup. My LURIUS at video on the channel at 1.30min-2.28min were filmed with the mentioned gh5 setup. This also works with the gh4. Cheers from Germany.

Is the Altura 8mm lens automatic? How about the Rokinon?

It’s all manual focus and aperture. I believe Rokinon are manual focus only but makes both all manual aperture and an aperture sensor version.

Pretty sure u need a full frame to show the black effect. You could add fake vig if u want that look. To get it max wideness u need full frame.

@@TadashiFilters Thanks I'm actually just an idiot and trying to figure my new camera out(Sony A7 III). My last DSLR's fisheye didn't have corners but I didn't realize I could zoom on the Sony to get rid of the corners and it looks great. However would you recommend that I film everything completely zoomed out and then crop/zoom in post? Sorry for the n00b questions
@TadashiFilters3 жыл бұрын
@@CameronAllOneWord Depends, but most likely you'd want to film it to reflect how you'll be exporting it. So zoomed in probably. That way in the field when you review the clip you'll know it will look similar to the final output. (Zoomed out can be nice so you have a little wiggle room to move the clip around in post because you have more image to work with)

Hey there just a question, is the Meike 8mm and Meike 6-11mm the same when both are at 8mm focal length?
@MASTEROFSAND3 жыл бұрын
Since it's a prime lens, straight 8mm, the 8mm prime lens is supposed to be better. It's also built for the widest shot. Video shows it "winning" for widest shot, and best image. Only me, I got a 8mm Meike because other reviews have confirmed it stays in focus even in manual if, I believe, set to infinity. Good luck!!!

I have just bought a Rokinon (Samyang) 8mm fisheye and put it through an adapter on my Olympus camera. For some reason, I can't get too close to the skater or it seems like too much of the image goes out of frame. I'm used to following the skater super close and it always looking good, or in frame. Does anyone know if this has to do with my camera? Or is there something else I am missing here?
