Great tutorial, my friend! I’m here because a mini split unit on my vacant rental shows ice completed covering the outdoor screens. The unit blows warm air inside, no problem. Also, the tenant never complained about no heat. I turned it off and let it defrost. Your explanation put me at ease.

Greatly appreciated. I just bought a house and the first cold snap, until was just slightly ice over, which is normal. I was about to freak out. I appreciate your time explaining this.

First of all I want to thank you for posting helpful videos like this on KZbin. I'm sure most people like myself are much appreciated. My problem with my heat pump is that it kept running after it reached the set temperature. I've set my temperature indoor at 72. after it reached 72, it'll runs all day if you don't manually turns it off. The Thermostat I'm using is the Honeywell RTH9585WF smart Thermostat. My fan is on auto. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

I know it's annoying when you're unit runs all day. But most of these heat pumps below thirty degrees they run all day long. You can try emergency heat and see if it shuts off

It's totally normal for it to freeze up if you've replaced all that and it's still not going into defrost then make sure you set the time to maybe thirty minutes or sixty minutes at the most

If heat pumps can only do a 20° split that means they suck right. Need heat to do 50 split or higher.
@TaddyDigest10 ай бұрын
lol 😆 😂 Well it doesn't necessarily mean they suck but the more efficient. The heat pump the better the heat you get so just invest in a in verter heat pump.

I'm trying to get used to my first heat pump in this rental house. It blows temps of 68.9 - 70.2 out of the vents. When I walk in from the outside it definitely feels a lot warmer inside but it feels awfully cold in here once you get used to it. The thermostat is set to 70 and the inside temp shows 70 degree's. I called the owner out and as I figured he said everything was working like it should, lol, I knew that was coming. Let me ask you this, we're going to have below 0 temps moving in tonight, Friday and Saturday with wind chills around -30 degrees here in Missouri. In your honest opinion how bad do you think it's gonna be for me for the next two to three days? Thank you

Tad, I'm SO confused! How the heck do I know if the unit has a heat pump VS a regular central heat & air unit?! We live in a 60+ community in one level apartments. We are told to turn on emerg heat if we go below 30°. However a HVAC repair guy told me not to... our elec co said not to. I'm wondering if the mgr has that at her house and thinks all H&A units are heat pump. Is there a way I can tell if it has a heat pump by looking at outside unit? I'm not going to turn it to emerg unless it's really necessary. These units are 500 sq ft. And last yr heat was around 100.00 a month during unusually cold winter. TX doesn't have winters that cold usually. Any advice is appreciated! P.S. Do you guys do P.P. for one time gifts?

If your thermostat as the emergency heat option then that means you have a heat pump

@@TaddyDigest I know this is a stretch but is it possible a 'maintence man' put the wrong replacement thermostat on the wall? (they don't hire pros to care for units all the time- even elec & plumbing...scary I know). Also why is it so $ to run a unit w/emerg heat & do you have a video on tips about how to keep cost down? (Don't like hot, dry air & blower is only one speed) An HVAC guy told me that- mgr had to hire one bc our maintence guy quit. What about the one time $- is PayP ok?

There is a defroster cycle that melts all the frost off. Your energy bills go down with these devices, and heat pumps work really well down to about -20F, for modern devices. Gas and electric heat are only about 98% efficient because they create the heat. Heat pumps move heat around instead of creating it, so the ones being sold today can generally be between 200% and 400% efficient. Regardless of what type of heating/cooling system you have (heat pumps can both cool and heat your house), you should have it inspected every year or two. You don't want your gas furnace blowing your house to bits, right?
@marksgoogle436011 ай бұрын
@@runed0s86 To me that gas bill comes out to be the same but you actually have heat and not a cold draft running none stop. I actually have full electric in MO running off what heat pumps call emergency backup only but their charge per Kilo was 1/12 of NC. My total MO bill will end up much cheaper
