Dominance is always divisive, and the response depends less on the actual circumstances than on one's emotional response to the athlete. Pogacar is so amazingly gifted, to say nothing about open and approachable, that his efforts should be enjoyed. The magisterial ways in which he wins provide their own excitement.

Belgium was the biggest disappointment as a team. I didn’t like Evenepoel whining about others not pulling when his team had all the advantages. Pogacar’s decision to attack at 100K out when the other favourites and their teams were sleeping was inspired. It just another tribute to his race sense as well as his strength. I’m delighted to see him win the World Championship. He’ll look great in that jersey all next year.

Stop spreading misinformation to the masses!!! MVDP was Wheelsucking all day! Meanwhile Remco was going to cook something special but his teamates had already lost the race by then😡🤬

I think Pogi decided to go since his team was deplated and the group that went ahead was strong ( they took almost 3 minutes in one lap). The Dutch and Belgians were playing chicken and starting to gumble and waiting who blinks first. It was a risk, but waiting for them to start pulling was also a risk with only Roglic with him, who is also a suspect in reading the race.

Evenepole seemed to be the most dissapointed and biggest disappointment for me. He just crushed the olympics and TT and I can't understand why he expected others to not mark his every move and try to ride his attacks. Tadej was a marked man too and he just made it happen with shear power and going early; he probably went too early, but in retrospect, it going that early was key to others not collectively working together thinking they were making him blow up. 99.5% of riders would have blown attacking from that distance with such a strong field behind them, but Tadej is no ordinary rider.

I second to this statement: "Pogi's move meant for the last 3hrs you had to watch those time gaps fluctuate". And that's what I did. Even my wife who is NOT a fan and doesn't understand much about cycling got stuck with me watching the race. Pogi is just a really good entertainer. He entertains us with his early attacks. That makes him a special athlete.

You were never going to get the race you imagined in your head. You hardly ever do. If it wasn't 100k it was going to be 80k, if not 80k then 50k, if not 50k then 30k. You were never going to get the match up you imagined in your head. At the beginning of the season, he was asked which race do you most want to win the Giro or the Tour, he said Worlds. So I knew it was over then. I think the tours were preparation for the worlds. He was always going to shape his body and mind to win the worlds. If you were paying attention, every time he talked about it, his eyes would light up and his body would shift with energy and excitement. He was going to make sure he won (baring accident or illness) and he did. Cannot fault a man who puts a goal out before him and then reaches it. We are spoiled, we are fanatic, when we are disappointed the races don't go our way.

They arrived in droves, driven by a hunger, but quickly spat out. They had bitten more than they could chew. The statistics presented 115 DNF fatalities. Entire teams and near-entire teams, died. But one most notable Slovenian was a certain Jan Tratnik. He was the last to deploy his disc brakes and behold his compatriot leader, Pogacar, disappear, and reappear into the ether of victory, crossing the finish line . . . alone! An unexpected sterling performance by O'Connor, made jaws drop all the way Down Under! Evenpoel and Van Der Poel pooled their sentiments and agreed: "This was a true World Championship!"

Defintely a suprise attack by Pogi, and it caught the competition napping. I think he gambled knowing that you don't have the normal teams to organize a chase, so it was more individual efforts and people that refused to work together. Nobody wanted to drag MVDP to the line. MVDP did his best to cover every attack he could in the final 20 kilometers but eventually Ben snuck away.

I think with Van Der Poel being so explosive, it was hard for Pog or Remco to get away. Well, unless one of them tried to attack with 100k left. Poor Ben O'Connor though, lacking that respect, which he rode all the way to the podium for his own double 2.

Pogis tactics were well scripted and bang on. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to work it out and it's not the first time it's happened. Text book Pogi move. If you really think anyone pulled back on Pogi your miles out, he knew what he needed to do and could have dropped them all if they were 4 laps in again on the last lap. Pogi got the lead then sat on it, when he needed to, after the cars came past he pulled 15s on the rest like they were cycling through treacle.

As an Aussie, I was happy to watch Tadej making history, even over an Aussie win. But, seeing Ben get 24 secs on the 2nd group he broke away from makes me look forward to 2025 with Ben joining Jayco/Alula to replace the last Yates 'twin'. My question for 2024 is what would Tadej have done at the Olympics if Slovenia had included his partner in their team? Alternatively, could Tadej have won the Vuelta as well as the Giro/Tour/WCs triple, a quadruple crown? Maybe we just need to wait for another year for Tadej's '3x grand tour victories in a season', he will certainly need some newer challenges for himself to feel like he is the best ever. Is Sagan's 3x WCs in a row now on his hit list? No1 is done, and which course doesn't suit Tadej? Will Cav's Tour stage wins record last for long? 🤔 (Given how Cav took Sagan out from a green jersey, I hope that record is broken very soon! 🤐) Any thoughts on the Swiss UCI allowing one of their own Swiss riders to lay by the side of the road with a terminal head injury?

I wonder how many Camels that cost?? I find it hard to believe the show when last year we had the same team win all three Tours and a 1,2,3 so that's all outstanding stuff and this year we have outstanding Pog. I just think if we are going to be entertained then can we have a competition? It looks like if you pay enough Camels then you can do what you like. I guess the reason the UCI is in Swiss is so they can hide the cash in their Swiss bank account. Little Klaus (Clerk at UCI) has to go to the bank with his suitcase of cash every few months or January 2nd when all cash deposits should be paid. If I'm seeing a puppet show then can the UCI hide the strings please :/
