If you lose your keycap puller, grab the flimsiest coat hanger you own and bend it in half. Pro tip.

Get both. Plastic puller is infinitely better when you need to wiggle a long key, like space bar. It lets you shift around and pull along the length of both sides of a key. Wire puller is better for most keys, though some boards with tight stems will benefit more from plastic puller for previous reason.

The wire puller ones also damaged the caps on the bottom since the wire digs into the plastic as you pull the cap off

My previous Logitech G413 came with a plastic puller and due to the keycaps having 4 pins underneath it was very important to pull the caps straight up or risk breaking a pin, sometimes the plastic puller would slip off one side and cause a pin to break (ugh) but my current Red Dragon K556 (full size) came with a wire puller and since the keycaps don't have any pins to worry about it works great also the caps pull off much easier on the red dragon.

if you want a wired keycap puller just make one out of 3 paper clips instead of spending 8 dollars on one I made mine out of paper clips and it works perfectly :)

a lot of times when I try to pull off a keycap with the plastic ones they usually need way too much force to get them to pull. And in most cases the keycap bottoms out before the prongs get under the keycap, or only one prong gets under.
