I appreciate that and i'm glad you like the structure of the tutorials. Thank you and i will do my best :)
@GingerNinjaTrickster11 жыл бұрын
I'm glad it has helped :) If you are over swinging the kick then the timing of the kick might be slightly wrong. If you are under doing the kicking and wrenching the hip down to come back then it's too early. If you are coming all the way back to where you started and losing balance then your timing could be too late or your not controlling it when you have completed the kick. If that's not the case watch the tutorial and see what other things could be wrong based on the way it's broken down :)

I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to explain the techniques in such a patient manner. All your videos are extremely helpful to understand how the single kicks are performed right and also to find the mistakes one might not even be aware of before watching. Since I began Taekwondo a year ago this is my place to go if I want to improve certain skills at home and I am sure I'm not the only one out there. Thanks a lot!!

Depends on what you consider as mastering it. I always try to improve each kick and not only for one situation. For example doing a spin hook kick on the spot involves far less skill than doing one against an opponent as they are moving and it involves timing, distancing, etc. My favourite quote is 'Perfection can never be achieved but it's nice to strive for it' :)

Fantastic explanation on this technique more so than any other tutorial I've seen on KZbin, in my honest opinion. I'm glad to have you as my virtual Sabumnim, Aaron! Great tutorials - they have helped me along with countless others. Hope you are doing well & Happy Holidays :)

I'm glad you like them and that they have helped :) I was not very good at all statically but not too bad dynamically. Hope that helps :)
@GingerNinjaTrickster11 жыл бұрын
That's because it's completely different. When you kick fast it's dynamic flexibility but when you hold your leg it's static flexibility and leg strength to keep it their. I have tutorials in my 'other tutorials' playlist that will help you. Good luck :)
@GingerNinjaTrickster12 жыл бұрын
Hi :) Thank you. You normally wouldn't break with this technique. You would break with a Reverse Turning Kick which is the same motion but the leg stays almost straight on impact. If you do break with this kick though, just listen to what i say in the tutorial when i'm talking about power and hit the center of the board :)
@GingerNinjaTrickster11 жыл бұрын
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)

I will eventually. Want to release kicking tutorials first and they do have ways to pull them off in sparring in most of the tutorials. But i will talk about combos and tactics for sparring in more detail soon :)

This is the kick I'm having the most trouble with right now, so I really appreciate this tutorial (and then onto the jump spin hook and 360 hook kicks). I keep wanting to do the old-school spinning heel kick where I just swing my leg around. Slowing down and doing it step-by-step really helps.

Yea. If you pass every grading it can be done in under 4 years i think but there shouldn't be a rush to get it. A belt is just a belt, it's how you feel and what you've done to earn it that really matters. Good luck :)

Practice stretching, dynamic stretching, leg control and the kick, then it will improve. I have tutorials on stretching which target the muscles that we use to kick so the routines will help with improving all of the kicks :)
@grabir0110 жыл бұрын
at 7:55 that is no longer a reverse hook but more like what we call a swing kick. You do them both beautifully. A reverse hook is an offset back kick with a hook through the target. You know your good when you make them look easy.. And.. you make them look easy for sure//
@GingerNinjaTrickster12 жыл бұрын
No problem. We teach this way so you keep your hook kick short and fast. This means less chance of getting caught in your spin and more chance of landing the kick on an opponent. Swinging is not wrong, it's just a different method. I actually mention it in my tutorial saying a bigger motion will create more power but is slower so there is less chance of landing the technique on an opponent. So to answer your question both are correct in different ways :)

i had a test rigth before this summer where we had to know this kick and every one else was so caugth up in doing the theqnique rigth so they didnt use any speed or power but becose of this tutorial i was more prepeard then the others and had a fast and powerfull kick and the instructer actully said that the others shuld do it more like me. you have helped me alot i felt like i were falling behind becose i did go from being the highest graded at a green belt training to the lowest graded at a blue to black belt training and i felt like i was doing really bad but thanks to some of your sparring tips i have never been better i was even sparring with an adult red belt and the instructer was really impressed. i have an amazing instrcter hes the trainer for the natianal team in norway and norway was the 5th best country in the world championchips in jessolo in italia. but thanks to you i managed to learn things that me and my fellow blue belts hadent learned yet and managed to get one step ahead of the others now im probably competinig in the norweagian championchips. and i thank you for making it possible to me.

Hello again, The difference b/w the ITF and WTF spinning hook kick is that the WTF throws their shoulder down to the opposite side of the kicking foot the instant contact is made with the target, whereas the kicking leg and the torso will both be parallel to the ground. This will make more of a "whipping" motion.
@GingerNinjaTrickster12 жыл бұрын
I believe so yes. Tae means 'Foot','Leg' or 'Step On'. Kwon means 'Fist' or 'Fight' and Do means 'Way' or 'Discipline'. Taekwondo is loosely translated as 'Foot Fist Way' or 'Foot Fist Art'. It's 3 separate words so they are some times linked together or separated in parts. Well that's what i think but if anybody has more information on it, please share it :)

Hey GNT! Question about this kick - when I was learning Hapkido we did a similar kick, but the body was always in line with the kicking leg (so if you were kicking at head height your body looked like イ). However, in this version you look more like a Y - would you mind explaining the advantages and disadvantages of both and when you would use them? Thank you!
