I was in a fight with two dudes once, what they didn't know is I trained in MMA for a few years, I choked the big guy out when he wanted to pick me up with a guillotine, I'm 6ft 2, he was much bigger than me by the way, something I'm not used to, I jabbed the other guy everytime he wanted to come in range, the big guy was easier to mess up with striking, he was slow and needless to say I was ahead for some time, they punched me a few times but I was okay, nothing more I haven't took in sparring before, they couldn't get me down so one of them hit me with a bat or a stick on the forehead which made me bleed, and I hit the ground for like a few seconds I was up again and still wanted to fight but I was bit confused what happened, because I thought I was winning. The police came luckily and yeah they never do in the area where I stayed, but yeah I was lucky, it was night time and no one comes out to help you, South Africa man, grappling literally saved me I believe from being slammed into the tarmac in front of my house. We found out later the big guy was a rugby player and the average bro who hit me with the bat was a local brawler, but yeah learn to fight and grapple ladies and gentlemen, it will save your life or quality of life there are some unhinged individuals out there.

Now compare this to those 2-4 hour seminars that people use to(probably still do) put on to teach women "self defense." This is the part most people never see. How much time and work is put in on just _learning_ seemingly simple things like this, let alone the time and skill and sparring it takes to get to the point that you can do it without even thinking about against someone who's seriously trying to hurt you.

I’ve never understood why they make it so difficult. 1. Grab his wrist, with your opposite hand. 2. Pull it across your body, spinning their back to you. 3. Wrap your free hand around their neck. With the inside point of your elbow at their Adam’s Apple. (This puts pressure on the carotid, not the trachea. *Very* important!) 4. Squeeze (flex, like you’re making a muscle), fast & hard. Within 3-5 seconds (sometimes sooner) they’re fully asleep. Once you get it down, you can do it one-handed. I was a bouncer, and used this technique, hundreds of times, in order not to get hurt, nor hurt the aggressor. When they wake up, all the “fight” has drained away from them. I’ve been chastised, by nurses, but never had any ill effects. To me, it was safer than beating someone unconscious. BTW: She’s very cute. 😉
@MiskyWilkshake9 сағат бұрын
Number 2 doing some work there, friend. If you try to 'turn' someone with arm strength alone, you're gonna have a bad time. The whole point of the grip fighting is to get the shoulder pressure you actually need to pull this off.
@whyis45stillalive4 сағат бұрын
@MiskyWilkshake I was a bouncer, for over 20 years. It never failed. It takes leverage, from the hips. Stupidly simple, and effective. It definitely helps if you're bigger, than your opponent. I'm not very big. A little over 6', 235lb. Grip strength, and speed, helps too. You can shove them off balance. Their instinct will make them try to lurch forward. If that happens, they're done.

This is a very common collar tie clear I teach to my beginner kids in wrestling. It results in a russian tie we use to set up a single leg, or several seat belt takedowns. The finish here is new to me but would be legal in wrestling since the arm is encircling. The ref would stop the match for potentially dangerous if a wrestler was choking. This lock is very similar to a lock used for the wrestling move called the assassin. I cannot see this working as demonstrated on someone who knows how to wrestle. As soon as you let go of the arm to reach for the head, they would just circle out and face you. Definitely would work on someone with no experience as almost anything does in the wrestling/ jui jitsu world.
