Taemin is just one of those performers that leaves you speechless every time he steps on stage. He was born to be a performer and that is one of the reason's why he has become known as the Korean Michael Jackson. That is also why, as one of the top two performers in the industry, and why he was made a member of SuperM. He is being held captive by the criminal who is the girl he is singing about. The song is about living in a toxic relationship and being brainwashed by the girl to the point where you are suffering from stockholm syndrome and you have now fallen in love with the person who is inflicting all the pain and suffering on you. Even though you are being abused by that person you can't help but love them and allow them to continue to hurt you, etc. :D Taemin is one of the best dancers in the industry and that is not just a fan's opinion but it's a title given to him by his peers and the industry as a whole.. Taemin also, just today, dropped his B-side track from this album, "Black Rose" on "The Stage". You thought "Criminal was good (and it is), "Black Rose", IMHO, is even better and the choreo is...just WOW.... HAHAHA...nope, it's not about a girl. It's SOOOOO MUCH DEEPER than that. This song, and the whole "Act I" album is a metaphor for "Stockholm Syndrome" from the perspective of Taemin (the victim) trying to break away from his old persona and the restrictions of certain cultural/company elements, as well as those he's placed upon himself, ("the moment I met you I lost my innocence") and reinvent himself to become more free in his expressions, love for his fans, and his passion (performing) to make him even better ("destroy me more"). I dont know about anyone else i’m always on the end of my seat every time he releases new content he never fails to impress 😁😘 OMG there was so many phrases that reminded so much of his previous music videos “DOOR”, “Danger”, “Thirsty”, “Press Your Number”, “WANT” and “Famous” I have no clue where to start. Everything up to this point is 100% proof that TAEMIN is South Korea’s Supreme Famous Smooth Criminal the korean michael jackson of generations and so on, who is a global vocal and dance legend because FACTS, there maybe many titled kings of kpop that have debuted after him but our SHINee maknae TAEMIN stands above all of them. actually it’s “Taemin of SHINEE”.... that’s his original group to which he debut with at the mere age of 14 w their song “Replay” (you should take a listen),,,,, he’s a legend in the kpop industry and is known as the MJ of korea due to how much homage he pays to MJ and the fact that that’s his biggest inspiration. SHINEE as a group were also just known as the “Princes of kpop” and to me they still are. SHINEE originally consisted of five members- Jonghyun, Key, Onew, Minho, and Taemin. unfortunately december 18th of 2017, Kim Jonghyun was found unresponsive in his apartment and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital and it was ruled a suicide. after that happened the group was still active till the older members (everyone except Taemin) had to do their mandatory military service (they’ll be back soon as they’ve done their time already). this is how Taemin ended up being put into another group and promoting with SuperM and yes SHINEE is on hiatus but they have not disbanded and will be back some day. hope this educated you just a bit :) if anyone in the comments sees a mistake in what i wrote pls let me know

Taemin said that he was talking about himself and that it is like a personality conflict within himself like the evil version and the innocent version who's being hurt. So he is NOT talking about a girl. And the concept of the two version of the Act 1 album illustrate that perfectly as the first version is called "Suspect" and the second version is called "Innocent"
