All the hands are very haunting. And while the arm in shirt part looks sexy I think it represents something darker. Like an inner struggle that comes to the surface. I hope he'll explain it at some point. So far all I read is that he tried to be as authentic as possible. Maybe the video is about his worsening depression and anxiety at the beginning of his military service. It's just speculation.

A lot of the video has theme from 2 books Taemin has talked about. One being Demian by Herman Hesse and the other Erotism by George Bataille. The quote “The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world. The bird flies to God. The God's name is Abraxas” is from Demian and is a quote Taemin referenced to before as well. Taemin is symbolising Abraxas (a Gnostic God the is the unification of dualities seen in our world) esp in the scenes with his headpiece. There’s so much behind this and could be a whole essay but for the sake of summary I’ll stop here. But the song and MV has layers and can be interpreted overall in many ways!!

I wanted to comment on Taemins dancing - that's what made him my ult!! I saw his OFF SICK concert and was absolutely floored at how much stage presence and feeling he has in his movement. There are some really lit dancers (ATEEZ have incredible choreos for example) but his dance always serves like ... Ballet. He tells a story with his body. It's not just technically proficient hitting each beat. He flows like water and it's breathtaking to watch. As far as I'm concerned he is THE dancing machine if kpop point blank period

💎 What can we say other than THE KING IS BACK!? I absolutely love how deep Taemin’s songs and MVs are…they aren’t just entertainment or for clicks/views, but he tells a story. He wants to make people THINK and question and reflect. This isn’t something one can watch and then move on. His concepts are intellectual and personal. 💎 Regarding the song itself, his haunting whispers with the beautiful runs on top give me chills…the rap section was unexpected, but fit perfectly and suited the song more than I’d have imagined. I loved how the song switched gears in unexpected ways…there are certain formulas that most kpop songs follow, but this moved in ways I’d never imagined it would and it’s perfect. 💎 As far as the choreography…holy freaking moly. I KNEW it would blow my mind…of course it would-it’s Taemin! With that said, I can’t help but wonder if this isn’t some of his best work to date. It’s provocative without being slutty. Not only that, but you can SEE him being jerked around without any hands on him at all. Around the tenth time watching the video, I happened to notice some of what the background dancers were doing (it’s hard to peel my eyes from Taemin!). There are some genius moves that add to the overall look of the stage…some possibly inspired by breakdancing and some quite acrobatic. I can’t wait to see how it plays out on stage! 💎 All I can really say besides the King has returned is, if loving Taemin is a crime, I’m “G-U-I-L-T-Y … Who's gonna punish me?” 💎

Thank you for your insights, and for reacting to Taemin, as always! I have heard a few theories and these are the top two: 1) Guilty is in response to the sexualization of his image starting when he was 14 in SHINee (see Sherlock promo images). At 30, he is able to reflect on what all that handling was to him. Fortunately, he was strong enough to endure the demands of fanship, including shipping, (he learned skinship from friends), and he had the support of his SHINee hyungs in the dorm, Onew, Jonghyun, Key, and Minho. They even walked him to/from middle school. 2) Some people think it's a treatise on his time in the military, with the riffs in the video on indoctrination, etc. So, right now, the internet is going crazy with people calling the still photos too racy, sexualized, or even p*rn, especially the shoebox and the secret compartment of suggestive photos. I may not be wild about the undergarments shots, but I see the point. That secret collection (in the album box) makes us all guilty and complicit in the manufacturing of his image. He has been a victim of voyeurism in the panopticon as an idol, as they all are. He is now ready to take back his power. Are we ready? What do you think?

You should watch the trailers to understand whats the music video is about. There is a posibilty that mv was made with the inspritation of the books Lord of the flies by William Golding and Demian by Hermann Hesse. Also the headpiece he wears represents the god Abraxas. But like for me, when i watched the trailers i felt like this is about opressed feelings. About society opressing minorites and treating their tendencies as if its something that needs to be handled and be fixed

All the white bunk beds could be a kids' summer camp, a private school, or one of those abusive boarding schools for troubled teens. The outdoor scene in the grey sweaters supports some sort of school. But the dancers/actors look older than that which fits with the memory aspect of the narrative.

Hi, i am back. Good rection, ty. Good song. On 1st listen I felt strongly like crying. The tears were held in though the whole song through. But at the end i had to wipe my eyes. I just want to hug Taemin. On my 2nd listen i read the lyrics. And after i wondered was my reaction all in my head. There are layers here upon layers. Loved the fits and makeup. Some of the subject matter was an issue for me. I know Taemin had lots of mental health issues in the military. Based on the teasers I thought he would talk about it. South Korea also has buIIying as endemic.. at schools (kids also teachers committing suicide as they can't either find understanding or help by their surroundings, on the contrary they are treated as the outcast and weirdos) also at the workplace, in the Military, in university... Their social rules, their stratification and obsession with seniority, comparing their ages, wealth, possessions, their marks, everything... the social pressure on kids and in general on everyone to be better, the most xx the most xx...). The crazy mix of their traditional values and the contrast to the monstruos capitalism that devours all traditional values... traditional collectivism versus wild individualism... @pamela-623 said on 10/30/23 this is an amazing comeback, so artsy so taemin, shawols had lots of interesting theories, my favorite being that this is an interpretation of the struggles in military enlistment, young men being taken, examined and given a gun, i find it so fascinating

I think watching the trailer fills in a lot of the story, the creepy side that the MV couldn't really linger on. Taemin has used those kinds of bunkbeds probably only twice in his like, in the SHINee dorm and military. I know which one was the traumatic experience. I'm sure this also includes some difficulties growing up in an abusive industry but the trailer has him literally shoot with another person holding his arm.
