Carp catch reminds me of a lost recipe for Smoking Carp. Brined fillets were smoked and offered to the companions of the fisherman at a bar. Everyone was offered a piece and everything was DEVOURED. They finally asked what it was. Reply: "Remember ALL those CARP trash dish you-all tossed on the bank that time? I'd asked you to bring me anything you catch later rather than tossing em!" He didn't lack for Carp to smoke afterwards.

There is no doubt basic baits, bread/worm/sweetcorn, still catches a lot of good fish! Great session Graham, lovely venue as well. I went to a local pond this week. Small thick sliced loaf caught me 14 tench, 1 carp, 3 roach in a morning session. All these pellets/boilies/wafters/pop-ups have their day on commercials, but give me traditional baits on intimate venues any day. Very enjoyable video - Thank You👍🏻🎣

I’m glad I’m finally catching again, I commented a few months back that I hadn’t had my net wet all year and you told me keep at it……May arrives and I’m back in the game, catching every other cast all month! Persistence pays!! ⏰…..🐠 🐟 🎣 🏆 🤣

Great session. I had a awkward large perch once. I only had maggots as bait. This huge perch came out from some reeds under an over hanging tree, Every time I cast float near it it came up to the bait then swam off, Tried various other setups to no avail. In the end I removed all floats, weights etc, and just had a hook and maggot. Threw in a small handful of maggots then quickly cast the hooked maggot in same area., Got it!. It seemed it could tell the difference of a float suspended maggot on a hook and a free falling/sinking one. Clever fish! Biggest one I caught so far.

Love this video. Different take on angling than what I’m used to in my area (Midwest North America). Tench, perch, carp vs. bass pike and walleye makes for a nice change of pace. Thinking I need to go out and fish for carp here soon!

Graeme. Many years ago my dad bought what looks like a big plastic dustbin, but it was a wormery (?) You take the kitchen waste (no meat) and put it inside. After a few months you should smell something like a compost heap, but too be different. It'll be warm, wet and have lots of worms in it. The one we had had a nice fitting lid and every time we opened it there was worms in the lid. Should you get one you'll have access to worms without digging and some great compost. Free worms! 😆👍
