Hi, thanks for doing the tag! Heart of Darkness is a stone cold classic, but I have never even heard of that avocado film until now!

Great responses to the tag! A Tale Of Two Cities is my favorite Dickens novel. Some of those B movies were so bad, you just had to laugh! 🤣 I enjoyed the movie Seabiscuit. Hope you are having a great August.

2:04 I love that you still have your high school copy of "A Tale of Two Cities"! Will you reread that copy? It might be interesting to look back at your high school impressions of the work from an adult's POV. 2:59 I love seeing the high school books come out! ❤ I've never read "Heart of Darkness", but the theme makes me think of the theme behind "The Lord of the Flies". 9:51 Wow. I designed a knit baby blanket pattern with my eyes closed while in bed (migraines + recovery from spinal fusion), but I can't even imagine trying to write that way... it requires so much more focus to write a story, and I'm astonished that she could read her writing later. I just looked up the title on Libby; thanks for mentioning it! I've heard of the title, but for some reason thought it was a fiction book vs a nonfiction. That is now going on my tbr! Great video, and thanks for the tag!

Good point, Tahlia - Heart if Darkness does have similarities to Lord of the Flies (only with adults rather than kids). Wow, I'm impressed you were able to design that blanket pattern that way! Yes, Laura Hillenbrand is absolutely amazing. She also wrote Unbroken, which is a stunning nonfiction book about a POW, though by the time she wrote that, she had been able to see some experts and try some treatments (thanks to the money she earned with Seabiscuit which was a huge hit and then adapted to a movie), so she was in better shape. YT doesn't always like links, so I will include a link to her story in a separate comment (just in case).

Tahlia - Here is an essay Laura Hillenbrand wrote for the New Yorker about ME/CFS called "A Sudden Illness": www.newyorker.com/magazine/2003/07/07/a-sudden-illness

I'm having a hard time thinking of books I've read set in Paris or France, though I'm sure there have been at least a few! The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue was set partly in Paris and was really lovely. :)

did you tell the library there were 23 pages missing from their book? I hope they got their money back from the publisher or whomever they bought the book from. I've met Diana Gabaldon and she's very witty. I have a friend who will sometimes read the end of a book before deciding to buy a book. LOL Ugh, I cannot listen to audio books at regular speed, it is so stinking slow. It makes me a little anxious because it's abnormally slow.

I did tell the library, but it was an old paperback, so the pages probably came out somewhere along the way with so many readers! Wow, I would love to meet Diana Gabaldon - sounds great! You sound just like my son re: audio books! He feels the same way. We used to always listen to audios on our long cross-country road trips with our sons, but when he was an older teen, he said just what you did! If I sped up audio books, I would definitely miss something lol - I usually listen while doing stuff around the house or walking.

@@SueJacksonDE is your son an auditory learner? My youngest is. If I listen to an audiobook, I have to follow along with the book. And I read faster than the audio, which is another reason it needs to be sped up. ahhhhh 🤗 I love that you all listened to audiobooks while traveling too. We made two car moves across the country and listened to a lot of audiobooks. Prometheus also became very good at being co-pilot for map directions. 😂 Now he's directionally challenged like his dad. How did that happen? 🤷‍♀ Thank you for sharing that. It brought back a lot of good memories. Love you Sue. I hope you have a great week.

@@BookZealots I'm not sure. He's an avid reader and did very well in school, even after he got so sick, so probably reading/writing is his learning style but I;m not sure. He loves reading epic fantasies so much that he's working on writing a fantasy novel now :) Ah, those road trip memories are the best!! We had such great times together as a family and saw so many amazing places. I admit, I miss those days! And both of our sons are severely directionally-challenged and can't read a map! By the time they started driving, GPS was around. Glad you had some good road trip memories, too!
