The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Glassbox features a new case size, refreshed movement and a gorgeously vintage box-domed crystal that takes us back right to the beginnings of the Carrera. A watch that has featured on wrists of action stars and race car drivers is one of those rare pieces that can claim the moniker of an icon, and this latest Carrera model is looking to celebrate just that. Lucky for us, we got to go hands-on with these new releases, which are not limited in production like some special Carrera models, just before they dropped at Watches & Wonders.

This is the first modern Carrera I've wanted. What a perfect, sophisticated balance of heritage and modernity. If I had one request it would be putting the original Heuer logo on the dial to keep things timeless.

Tried one on at the boutique the other day and it was fantastic. So incredibly comfortable. Legible. Lightweight. Enough water resistance and screw down crown. Perfect size. Wish it were more in the real of 4-5k USD.

Tag Heuer was my fantasy brand as a teen. The watch brand that made me pay attention to watches. Especially with their auto racing connection. The Heuer Carrera was a grail watch of mine back then. But as I got older and became able to afford a watch and then started collecting, like many others, I generally avoided Tag and lumped them in with department store brands like Raymond Weil and Movado. These watches and some of their other more recent releases have changed my mind. I finally have my Carrera! The Black and Silver glassbox, and I didn’t have to compromise on quality just for the name. It’s a good and good looking watch that is desirable and worthy of the Heuer legacy. Could not be happier.

Never had a TAG but I really like this one. I also love the 2020 CBS2210 44mm with a ceramic bezel. I wonder if the size of the dial is the same in both models, in which case I'd rather have this new 39mm chrono.

If using same case as last year’s limited red dial ”glassbox” design, it’ll be 14.7 thick and 46.5 lug to lug. Quite thick for 39mm. Wearing experience might prove different.

I believe this watch is being sold at Porsche car dealerships only to people buying the Cerrera 911 cars. That being said...I don't think Heuer licened the name for his watch line because of the car specifically...just liked the name "Carrera". That being said...since this watch IS being sold at Porsche car dealerships why not also make a "Porsche GT3" watch? ...which is THE 911 to own (only 911 that is still naturaly aspirated and not using tt' chargers)... Funny thing is....the Tag Cerrera line...is actually a lot more expensive than most would think....in that it only makes sense to buy if you are also going to by one of the Porsche 911 Cerra cars :)) Kind of dumb to buy this watch just becaue you like it if you drive any toher car...e.g. a Kia Sportage :))

Tag is its own enemy.All they need to do for most of the hate to stop is have most of their watches upgrade one more movement.Especially using Sellita movements in watches over $2,500.Great work horse of a movement but its like Porsche using a VW engine.Its ironic they have a Carrera line because the Porsche 911 Carrera is all about the motor inside but the Tag Heuer is not about the movement inside. hhhmm.
