I don't know if Paul told you the story behind this song and his quartet, Special Feature (1993 5th Place International Quartet Medalists), but the words are from a poem by their Bass, Bill Hill, which he wrote to express his love for his girlfriend (now wife) Julie Varner- Hill. Paul really thought it was special, so he set it to music. It was at least 30 years ago, probably more. I would very much enjoy hearing you to sing a couple of tags that Paul wrote solely as tags - also many years ago. One is "I Will Need Your Love" and the other is "Just One More Try". The first is practically a Baritone solo (he wrote it when singing in a quartet with Jeff Baker, so that's not surprising) and has some lovely duetting for Bari/Tenor and Lead/Bass. "Just One More Try" is a long, long post for the Lead but I find the harmony parts to be very fun. Both of those were written when Paul was singing Bass (the quartet was Bachelor Party with Richard Luellen on Lead, Rob Menaker on Tenor, Jeff Baker on Baritone and Paul on Bass), so it's possible it might fit well into your voicing for Bass (can't guarantee, though, as I'm writing this without referencing the music).

Would love to do tags like this but I have no Idea how to go about it. Is there any videos on how to compile the four parts. I sing lead.

Thanks for this! More tags that are mixed quartet friendly please! Family friendly Tag Parties can be super fun. Get the kids involved! A bunch of people getting together, eating food, and exchanging tags is a guaranteed good time!

I'd love to see a video of you guys singing a tag of the month, Josh! Sounds like a great idea. I'm sure that's how 'The Benson family' started as well. (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGSyfZmsm69jfM0 ) Keep it up.

I... I can't believe I just hit those baritone notes. I've never been able to, and suddenly- I have to sing all the tags now, I'm afraid that I'll wake up tomorrow and the low notes will be gone again!

These are pretty much the learning tracks for it :). Holland Harmony is working on a new website and I was thinking of putting learning tracks of the tags on that, once it gets finished. You'll find it out on the facebook page of Holland Harmony's Education Team (facebook.com/hollandharmonyeducation )

What's it like singing with Stuart Sides?
@sgtsonny4 жыл бұрын
Haha what an awesome and unexpected question. I've sung with Stuart singing bass, tenor and baritone. Needless to say he's an incredibly versatile and amazingly talented singer. He also has a hearing and musicality you wouldn't believe. Apart from all that he's very wise, incredibly compassionate and he's a great person to have around. If I ever start a new quartet, it would either be with Stuart or not at all. I hope you'll get to sing with him some day. He's a fantastic person!

Overtone - what software do you use to combine the tracks. I’ve thought about trying a multitrack tag, but have never recorded myself before.

It's a pity I'm not a man ! I would gather my friends and we learning to ! We would sing to the sweetest girl! Good idea what you are doing! Surely many learn from it ! Could it be for girls too? ! I enter !
@sgtsonny6 жыл бұрын
This tag is one for men, but my previous videos in the 'Tag of the month' series have all been pitched to a female key. So how about gathering some friend and learning those so you can sing to the most handsome guys :). You can definitely pitch this up for a female quartet if you'd like or even a mixed quartet (two guys on bass and baritone and two ladies on lead and tenor). Everything's possible, really :)

Thank I very much ! It good idea ! I'II look them ! I just have to find entrepreneurial ladies. It would be best to do it alone ! If that succeeds you will be the one I'II show you first !
