Some power poles there maybe , nice and straight and tall. That saw is amazing! And I don't mean cousin Gary's, ah ha.😄, your saw really sounds good, I like that 4 stroking a bit too, sounds awesome. The chain still sharp! I could here it breaking through the annular rings, there must be a big differance in wood density as you cross the annular ring. Was that Doug fir? The wood of the Gods. Thanks for this incredible archive of videos Jack, some day i'll get through the stack of video albums. Greatful

So the tree was leaning left toward tree line, is the reason you cut the hinge off on the left to swing it back right. 2 questions. What was the notch cut you first made on the right side? Also when your leaving a wider hinge like you did on the right, how do you determine how wide to leave the hinge in order to offset the lean? I’ve cut trees and then watched them fall while cutting off a hinge to keep steering them. Is that your method?

Got a question for ya bud. A small thread was started in my wildland group about depth of felling notch, and someone either joked about, or was serious...about using a "bullet cut". Ever hear of it? Only things that come up about that are idiots using 300 rounds of 762x39 to drop a tree.

John hi. No. Occasionally new things surface. It might be a little like the "youngins" calling an undercut the Humboldt where there is a "flat" deck and a bias or diagonal taken out of the bottom to form the undercut. The true Humboldt Undercut has two parallel, flat "decks". Width and depth will vary on what the faller is trying to accomplish timing wise as the tree heads toward earth. Until I know what is being referenced, it will hard to advise. Please lemme know... Thanks for watching.

Hey jack, odd question and a bit random. What kind of oil do you run?
