Now I'm wondering how Kamilah felt when Tahani died, I mean... she did die in front of her and her final act was an attempt to tear down a statue of Kamilah which ultimately crushed her

that's exactly what I have been thinking about all their deaths, how did all the people around them react to their deaths? as well as would Eleanor's mother even know if Eleanor died since everybody thought she had died and her name changed so nobody would inform her.

Faizina Rizvi I think that Chidi never had anyone who cared about him before he met Eleanor, so no one would actually be that affected by his death Eleanor's friends never really cared about her and her mother wouldn't probably know of her death and even if she did, would she really care Pill boy and Donkey Doug would go for their drink idea and probably get caught by cops Kamillah would probably be depressed by her sister's death without knowing why she feels that way

I think Tahani's death was symbolic of her relationship with Kamilah. Kamilah reached great heights due, unbeknownst to Tahani, to Tahani herself, with which Tahani clearly took issue, so she attempted to drag her sister down, which only ended up crushing her even more.

this is one of the examples why the point-system does NOT work! You can't send to the bad place a girl who was, along with her sister, emotionally traumatised by her parents all her life !!!
@craxnor
@craxnor 5 жыл бұрын
The point system doesn’t work because it’s based on every action and reaction that action causes. For example. Got a diamond for you’re fiancé: 50 points Gave money to company that hoards diamonds to make them expensive: -100 points Diamond cane from underpaid and extorted workers: -150 points Some workers were children exploiting child labor: -200 The need for that diamond caused a collapse in a mine killing dozens: -1600 Every single action is weighed by every effect it causes and since mankind is unable to actually perceive and know what these actions will cause there is no way to do anything without losing points. This is multiplied by how connected the world has become also. Even the judge, who at first dismissed this argument and went to earth to prove a point, was back in under a minute and was shocked at how bad it was.

Something I think we forget, or maybe never knew in my case, is that Tahani is the older sister, which in my opinion explains a lot of Kamilah’s behavior. Textbook youngest child trying to stay the favorite in a toxic family. Which is why I think Tahani felt like she needed to apologize first, like she always has this responsibility when it comes to Kamilah because she’s her baby sister.

I've just noticed that when their dad says "who will be the winning artist" he looks at Kamilah. And when he says "and who will fail" he looks straight in Tahani's direction. It's not that Tahani failed this painting competition and Kamilah won because she was better and that's how their respective roles were decided by their parents. Their roles had already been decided beforehand. Their parents simply wanted them to believe that it was an objective judgement instead of an abusive and subjective choice on their part.

And what were they even trying to do with that? What frustrates me is that we never got to learn what their motivations were for being such crappy parents. I mean, most crappy parentage comes on without much intent, and just happens because the parents suck and being parents, or just don't care. But Tahani and Kamilah's parents seemed like they had real intent behind their bad parenting. They actively pushed for Tahani to be the failure and for Kamilah to be the winner. But why? What was their goal in that? Why did they want that? Was it just plain old favoritism? Or maybe they were just psychopaths who wanted to mentally fork over their own children? Maybe they were psychologists who were messed up enough to experiment on their own children like many other psychologists have. Maybe they secretly didn't want their children to do better than them, so they wanted to divide them. IDK, but I wanted to know so badly.
@sarahlelys9268
@sarahlelys9268 2 жыл бұрын
@@ShadeSlayer1911 I think maybe they never elaborated on the parents' motives because what matters, really, is Tahani's own progress. Knowing why they were abused generally doesn't help victims. And in the end I think the writers wanted it to remain something everyone could identify with, and something that no one could ever justify. However, I do understand your curiosity.

this was also so incredibly heartbreaking because at this moment, you also realize the depth of loneliness that Kamilah has in her, because Tahani.... Tahani made FRIENDS. Real friends. Family-level friends. Not just sycophants, beneficiaries and admirers, but people who care about her because she cares about them. In the bad place, away from all the toxicity and old one-upping habits she's been conditioned into, Tahani learned how to care and be cared for in a way that Kamilah never had a chance to.
@cliffto6
@cliffto6 3 жыл бұрын
But didn't Tahani also stated she never really have any real friends? Back in the episode when she tried to convince the gossip dude in bad place that she was too, miserable on earth especially when they placed her in VVIP place and no one else was there but herself then she just watched the whole party while spending herself in the room. I think both of them are actually lonely and NONE of em have friends. Tahani have fake friends, and Kamilah only have adoring fans. Both of them equally lonely. But one thing that captivates me when she going through teh Bad Place test she didn't find Kamilah's door, which means Kamilah was never talking Tahani behind her back her whole time. Her parents do. It kinda gave me sort of a hint and goosebumps too.

@@cliffto6 yes Tahani never had real friends before she died either, but this is season 3, where she learned she already died once, got revived and is now heading to the Bad Place once more. At this moment in the episode, Tahani had already formed friendship with the Brainy Bunch, and it was true friendship because she didn't do it for fame, attention or for the sake of name-dropping. Also, when they were doing the Judge's test, there were plenty of doors that we see Tahani walked through, but we didn't see the name of the people. Especially the last 2 doors I believe. So yeah, Kamilah might have talked about Tahani behind her back too, we just don't really know.

The real tragedy is there are a lot of Tahanis in the world. People who know it's not okay how they were treated, know they deserve better, but they still haven't put together how to escape that web. Did anyone notice that in the first painting their parents are red and blue and the one that is Tahani is purple but the one that is Kamilah is black? I wonder if she in her own way felt her parents loved Tahani more so Kamilah felt Tahani represented the combination of their parents while she herself was black with an emptiness, not knowing who she was. That’s so sad if that’s true. This show really makes you think about what’s on the inside of those around us and that what we receive from someone isn’t always who they really are but just the ways they find to mask and protect themselves from the pain inside. I love this show. It’s brilliant.

I thinks it’s cause tahani finds her self worth on the combination of her parents love and admiration mean while kamilla does things for her parents not because she finds meaning in it but because she has to. meaning she finds her self worth not just from her parents but everyone else (black is created with the combination of all colors or the absence of it) and she feels that without everyone to define her she is the void of emptiness- meaning her self worth is literally the absence of “color” or the inclusion of all At least that’s my opinion of course it’s up for interpretation that’s why the good place is such a good show and why many love it 😍 ❤️😂

it also just goes to show that even though Tahani did have a lot of celebrity friends THIS is how they really are; talking about you behind your back and not actually supporting you. Real friends would have told you the problem to your face. So, although Kamilla may not have had friends, she also didn't seem to have people talking about her behind her back like tahani did. Kamilla may have been the favorite, but Tahani was never going to be good enough in her parents eyes and therefore all the friendships she made were fake because she was unknowingly acting like them.

Forgive only if that's what you want to do and don't let anyone tell you or pressure you into doing otherwise. She could still have changed slightly for the better and been more empathetic, or at least sympathetic to Tahani. She was unnecessarily cruel to her sister. Kamilah still had some "back up" validation. Tahani had absolutely nothing. She was seen as a failure in both her parents' and her sister's eyes. Yes, Kamilah had the pressure to be perfect, but Tahani had the pressure of not being the constant failure in her family. In addition to that, Tahani had a sister constantly tearing her down, yet Kamilah didn't have to deal with that. Everyone in the family knew, including Kamilah, that their parents would pay hundreds of billions to get Kamilah back, but wouldn't even pay one penny to get Tahani back.

I think both were just used by their parents. I can't blame the children for how they were raised. The only way Kamilah gained her parents approval was by besting Tahani, and once she started she couldn't stop. That's all she knew how to do.
@Njx063

@@Jukeboxster bruh stfu. Same logic applies when someone bullies a person so hard ending up ruining their entire life that they will be tortured forever, but because they were abused by their parents, it's not their fault for bullying someone. Kamilah neglected her sister and made her think she was less throughout her entire life JUST like her parents. K knew she was being abused by her parents that ALWAYS expected her to fail and she never even comforted her like a decent human being does. Instead she made fun of her or ignored her and, like her parents, expected her to fail. I agree that the parenting style of the parents did result in them both being bad people, but that does NOT excuse Kamila's actions. There was no need for Tahani to apologize just because Kamilah wanted a sister. She already had a sister, but didn't take care of her.
@shadenox8164
@shadenox8164 Ай бұрын
Tahani was not any better to Kamilah actually. They were both abused and they both allowed that to cause them to treat each other badly. Tahani resented her sister and everything she achieved. Can you blame her for withdrawing if everytime you did something you could tell it was eating that person up inside? Making them more passive aggressive? I get we have more time with Tahani so we empathise with her more, but this idea that Tahani was completely innocent with her relationship with Kamiliah is just silly.

The first time I saw this scene, I assumed it was a setup for another joke; that Tahani was wrong or Kamilah would just reject her again. But it wasn’t a joke, it was a genuinely heartwarming moment. And I’m so happy about that.

kamilah doesn't get off that easy for me. she still in some way went along with what the parents were doing to tahani and still didn't seem to feel bad for it up to present day. Kamilah should have stepped up to Tahani first and hugged and apologized to her.

I mean it's easy to say that watching from the outside but I think she was just trying to please her parents by being the best of the two. She was raised to see Tahani as her competition. If she's past that stage I think it's for the better.

@@tasha777 Yeah and she's a bench for that. My post was not necessarily to be in opposition with you but just to point out that maybe she deserves a little more compassion. I mean Tahani was a pretentious mess in the first season she too was still poisoned by her parents toxic behavior. It's not like she was a poor victim she was an extremely rich socialite who was doing charity just to look good. She had to die and be tortured for centuries to become that friendly and charming girl we're all rooting for. I just hope she'll keep helping Kamilah.

Adama Sanogo yeah I know you’re not exactly opposing me, and I can definitely give kamilah compassion but I feel as though she had no intention to come to this conclusion herself and apologize to Tahani. Tahani wasn’t completely innocent but to be fair she was the better of the two. I understand where you’re coming from though.
