My plan is to physically remove the amp. Maybe even go far as removing the wiring. I’m doing a full system in my 03 with Bose. I’m gonna trace and label each speaker wire. And tap in them thru the back of the radio. Or if not I’ll just tap into them from the factory amp location. I’m gonna put the amp under the passenger seat anyways. So I’ll need a short run from my speed wires to the harness at the amp. I’m not tryin to revert to stock anytime soon. Lol Bose is nice. But much nicer set ups out there. It is a bit dated. It’s time for an upgrade.

I know this is an old post so I may not get a reply, but im about to bypass the factory amp also and had a question. Did you have to use a 4 channel amp to send signals to the amp using the RCA and speed wire? As in RCA's to give the sub sound signal and speed wire for the door speakers? And if so do you have to splice the harness coming off the radio? thanks for the video!
@dabloesco2 жыл бұрын
Sure you figured out by now but just in case LOL. If you are installing a sub only and have factory Hu you run a proper and that matches as close in rms not peak to you sub so sub handles 600 rms at 2 ohm then try and find a ame with a rms of 600 watts rms is steady power what it outputs like 1200 watt doesn't matter as much as rms in all speaker installs. Then your run the RCA and Renate wire which is what I assume your referencing as the speed wire. That goes into the back of Hu they make adapter for stuck headuncts called line convert out I think,, basically extra part I0 connect your rea and remote wire non of you already have aftermarket hardest which I wou ld get first for any upgrade you went need the loc it will have RCA and remote wire connect on radio harness already. Same goes for door speakers get a 4 channel run set of RCA and remote wire to headunit and then speaker wire goes from amp to each door speaker. You have a +/- wire going to each and that's how gu run aftermarket speakers and amp. You can also get a five channel amp, which will give you the same concept except you only have to run one set of RCA’s and remote wire(speed wire). There are other configurations and I’m pretty sure you can buy RCA wires to run directly in some head units and amplifiers. I’m sure there’s other tips in anyone will correct me if I’m wrong, but this is just a general explanation. Also, you will have to run your power wire and ground wire for the amp obviously but I didn’t mention that. Hopefully you were able to figure it out either way. .

Yeah even though I only hooked up power in the ground signal still plugged it into the factory harness there's no way around that so it is still running through the factory amp I just can't get it right I thought that my 12 sub was blown but after thinking about it ,it's just being double fed .. getting very frustrated iv hooked up lot I'm systems in this one is the hardest by far

Will this work in a 2004 Escalade? I thought the box behind the glove compartment controlled the satellite radio functions?
@TahoeSteve6 жыл бұрын
not sure, but i am leaning towards no. you probably have Bose and 2003+ (for Tahoe at least) are different than my 2002

I got it and found speaker wires and run them to a 4 channel amp but the radio turn on and say it miswired

Ive got aftermarket deck and no sound from rear door speakers....not talking about tweeters, i mean the speakers in the rear passenger doors
@David-Ralph5 ай бұрын
I believe the stock rear speakers are 8 ohm speakers and they may only work with the factory amp which pushes 8 ohms to the back speakers. If you bypass the factory amp to the back speakers, they may not work because the head unit does not push 8 ohms. I’m about to get into this situation so that’s why I’m replacing the stock rear speakers with 4 ohm speakers to match with my head unit. This should also be the same if you are using a non-factory amp.
@frankjones8355 ай бұрын
Are you referring to the sub or the small door speakers in the rear passenger doors?
@mobilemike85006 жыл бұрын
I'm a 50 year Auto Tech I just want to let everybody know that the bypass is fine but pay close attention to the positive and negative to the speakers as GM release their wiring schematics incorrectly to the public I own three of these vehicles and I found that the positive negative configuration in the speaker wiring diagrams for these model trucks is incorrect... the a connection at the speaker is the positive and if you look at the schematic going back to the head unit or the amp it shows it as negative on all the speakers ...that is not correct so Crutchfield and Metra and all these people are supplying these quick connectors for aftermarket speakers and everybody's wiring their speakers in reverse polarity even the stereo shops don't even know what they're doing it's funny because a phase tester only cost ten bucks from China I also found that on my 2003 Yukon XL with the Bose system my rear door speakers are in reverse polarity I contacted Bose to see if that was done on purpose and nobody has the answer to that of course I doubt it was done on purpose somebody dropped the ball there too happens all the time in this business and all the KZbin videos are showing people how to wire the stereo speakers in reverse
@jackkhol42516 жыл бұрын
Really? That's F'ed up. Why wouldn't GM fix that error? I'm about to by pass and wire up an entire after market system in a 2001 Tahoe and your comment has me worried
@mobilemike85006 жыл бұрын
Jack khol if you can test it from the head unit all the way to the speaker's you won't have a problem but what I found is that all the positive and negatives are reversed in the schematics for the Chevy there is also a polarity Checker CD or download for your phone that you can buy and then you put the tester at the speakers to test them after you get everything installed and make sure they're correct you can buy them from China for like 15 bucks call the speaker polarity tester I don't know why everybody doesn't have them
@jackkhol42516 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. So you are saying every Chevy during these years are like this? I'm working on a 2001 Tahoe without Bose system.
@jackkhol42516 жыл бұрын
And it seems like I could just reverse the leads at the speakers if that was the case correct?
@mobilemike85006 жыл бұрын
Jack khol I'm just saying you can't trust any wiring schematics part of the problem is the rear speakers were 4 ohm speakers and they flip the polarity around on the speaker connectors so they reverse the wires but the problem seems to be that the A&B is not labeled correctly for positive and negative and nobody has ever picked up on that and nobody really ever checks they just put speakers in and hook them up the same way they were and realistically if all your speakers are wired in reverse polarity you probably won't notice it much but they do make cheap polarity Checkers to tell you if they are in phase to me all these high-end stereo shop should be using polarity Checkers because a lot of people's cars I work on I check them and their speakers are wired in reverse polarity

I came up one pin short to complete the 8 wires needed. The one I bought used a two pin into one pin red wire, so there wasn't 8 pins for each side. Bummer man.

I’d luv to find something like this for my 2017Silverado 1500LTZ,.. has Bose factory stereo /amp,. I can not find anything to work with aftermarket android 10in screen head unit,. Whenever I hook it up with harness that came with aftermarket unit everything works except I have NO SOUND!!! Even my two 12in subs and added amp, there’s no sound there either,.. idk what to do now,. Maybe bypass the factory amp?.?.

Did you figure it out? Have to hook the blue wire from the wire harness to your amp turn on wire, or to a 12v switched wire...

Larry Nelson Bose is 2 ohm. Aftermarket radios 4ohm. Wire 2 speakers parallel into one channel. Do this for front and back. It will leave2 channels you can add more speakers if you wish

If you bypass the amp does that eliminate the speed wire
@TahoeSteve4 жыл бұрын
Speedwire can be eliminated by going directly from an aftermarket amp to the speakers.
