NEVER a dumb range test ! Always someone who wants to see some combo of comparisons or another. I may have commented in an earlier Shield vid you did....but after years of having the G43 as a back up & CC, and also using Taran +3 extensions when needed (almost making a 43X).....I still did love the lil G43, but knew it was time to to upgrade that size pistol to modern capacities and research lead me to the Shield Plus Performance Center model (had some cabelas points to burn and got it for $150.... 😁)The cool thing with the Plus is the small profile of the 10 round mag, the 13 round if desired, and the 15 round Equalizer mags that are actually stamped Shield plus on their base plates. Took a little bit to get comfortable with the switch......but glad I did. Left it iron sights but changed them to XS sights (all my pistols have these / same sight picture), and added the Hogue Handall grip (#18410). Be Safe! Keep enjoying that retirement !

Some might take more effort. Pick what you like, train, drive on. I had to use an M9 half of my career in the Army. I never liked it. My hand hated it, but I did not pay for it. I made it work. The only mild complaint I have is the trigger, it's not horrible but the APEX is certainly a worthwhile upgrade. I guess another would be the sights, but as OG mentioned, they typically get replaced fairly quickly anyways. When I bought mine, the mos wasn't out in droves. One of my favorite things about the glock, and this option is shared widely, is its hard to kill the damn thing. Shoots whatever , whenever. They didn't have any Glocks that were MOS, but they did have a S&W Shield plus. I had heard many good things about them so I picked it up. I put a Holsum Green Dot sight on it and have carried it since. I would have been happy with a Glock had I found one. They were new at the time and not common. It carries well. Great trigger, but then as a long time Glock guy I was not a picky trigger guy anyway. I am happy. I think it looked to me the Smith was smoother shooting and the recoil seemed a little more in control than the 43X. Not enough to stop me, but some people might find that important. Glock requires site replacement, and comes with 10 round mags. Which requires after market option to compensate. So that’s a couple hundred bucks tacked on to purchase price. S&W ready to roll out of box for 50 bucks more than the 43X. But what’s money? Glock needs to get with the program and make a factory 15 round mag., ditch the Tupperware sites and keep price under 500. It’s getting harder to stay in the Glock fanboy club because of companies like S&W are crushing it. Good review, and respect your choice of carry bro. You shoot it well. That support hand thumb needs a place to rest, you should try a little skate board tape on the frame ahead of takedown button, think it would cut down on repositioning during shot strings. Really enjoy your channel, glad I found it.

Glocks come from the factory with either plastic, all metal and/or Night sights (Trijicons, Ameriglow, Glock brand). If your Glock came with plastic sights, blame your FFL Dealer for that. I buy mine with either Trijicons from the factory or Glock all steel sights from the factory. It’s like buying a car; you have the base model or an upgraded package model. Glock has been doing it that way for years, but vendors still order the guns with plastic sights. That’s their own fault (and becomes YOUR problem). Tell your FFL you want different sights if he isn’t carrying those models. Easy fix.

Both of these are stellar options, but I have the Shield Plus. It’s just more gun for the money. You can find it with the factory night sights, OR for $420+ and it comes with a 13 round factory steel mag, plus there is an available 15 round steel factory magazine where as with the Glock 43X/48 you get a 10 round factory mag, but have to buy an after market Shield Arms 15 or 20 round magazine that is more expensive than the S&W factory mags. Seems like a no brainer for me. Still, can’t go wrong with either for a carry gun: both are reliable and very easy to shoot.

Nice comparison OG! I still favor Performance Center Shield Plus for summer carry. I have one con against the PC Shield Plus, the slide release. Otherwise its a very comfortable conceal carry.

I’ve always used the overhand method anyway, so the release has never been a problem for me.

Its a slide stop, not a slide release but it should be a release

It's a slide stop not a release. You should be using it to release the slide.

I've owned all different brands and calibers. That little Smith is my fav small 9. It is the grip angle for me plus capacity close. Pointability is excellent and comes down to preference. I own Glocks but the Smith Shield is very very easy to carry, thin and shoot to point of aim. Just my old a-- opinion. Edit: I own the original Shield also so one great aspect of this is all your holsters will fit both original Shield and Shield plus. Another deciding point but not one that would take away from the most important points of picking a sidearm. This isn't for duty/backup. Im retired and 100% disabled with lots of shrapnel and damage. Reason i mention this, it does make a difference because of width of your weapon. Of course carry the caliber you shoot the best. A hit with a .22 beats only noise from a .44 mag. Not to mention attack points. Great video OG! Keep'em coming!

Felt the same way when I rented a 43x and Shield Plus to decide between the two. I don't hate Glocks, I liked shooting every one I've tried. But, I've alway found on my last three pistol purchases, one that worked a little better for me.

I like my GLOCK 48 , just points good , feels a little like browning Hi Power , minus some weight . Barrel is a little longer than a 43x . Thanks for the comparison.

The M&P does have a nicer trigger.

I’m 69. Rented a 43X-Despised it. Not for me. Felt recoil made for awful shooting as well as NEVER wanting to enjoy it at my local range. Haven’t tried M&P.

Cant go wrong with either. I just prefer the shield plus since I bought one of the first ones back in 2013 or so and it has been 100% reliable and trustworthy. Thousands of rounds and it still looks brand new. Shield plus fit in all the old holsters too. Still like Glock. Its what I started on 30 years ago but really only the 19 (who doesn't), 19x, and mostly just full size 9 models. I think other companies like S&W, Sig, and others do small guns much better than glock.

I bought a Shield Plus. I had 3 case ruptures in the first 300 rounds. Scared me... absolutely no confidence. I sent it in to S&W for evaluation; they said nothing was wrong, but 3 case ruptures argues that point. Starline Brass has a specific warning about the Shield Plus having an unsupported area in the chamber above the feed ramp (where all my ruptures occurred). Bought the 43X. Confidence is back.

I don’t shoot 9mm reloads and I haven’t had a single issue with factory ammo in several years of owning it.

There’s no comparison, out the box the m&p smokes it,

I had the opportunity to shoot a M&P Shield Plus and compare it to a P365 Macro. They both shot well, but the shield had tighter groups and was more on target.

NEED? NEED A 43X? You Lost Me On That. What does NEED have to do with it?

I agree with you OG. I own the Shield Plus and my brother owns the 43x. We had a range day and we both agree the S&W is the overall better shooter...so much so that he wound up buying one the following week. But the 43x is no slouch. Just like the S&W better for carry.

now give the Sig 365 Xmacro a run; 17 rounds in ever so slightly longer pistol. Love it, easy shooting. Always a good day when OG shows up in the feed!
@cosyfoot78677 ай бұрын
Not saying it’s not a great pistol, but it is bigger in many ways including the magazine base plate than either of these guns. To me it competes more with the Glock 19 size than the true micros as it’s a pretty large gun.
@fadedlogic17 ай бұрын
@@cosyfoot7867 fair enough, i have pretty big mitts so i just can't get a good grip on the S&P or G43x. I have no issues with concealment. So many good options to find the right one for your specific use case and comfort.

The 365 xMACRO, the 43x and the shield PLUS are not micro 9’s so why bring it up on a video that’s SUPPOSED to be about micro 9’s?

No range trip is dumb if you learned anything, you learned that you didn't really need Glock, and that's a good thing.

In the view when you make the chest shots one can see that you readjust your grip nearly every shot with the Glock, but with the Shield just once.

Probably because I’ve carried and shit the Shield for a few years but I shot the Glock for the first time in this video.

S&W Shield Plus for me! Just the perfect combination of size, capacity, point ability, grip texture and reliability. I own a Glock 43 (not X) and carried it for several years, the Smith replaced it.

Glock guy (for the most part) here, but for micro, the Shield continues to hold 1st place in that niche. Proven reliability, mag options (10,13,15), more ergonomic, better sights.
