Interesting plot twist at the end. It makes sense. I do have one critique, though: I feel as though Tai Lung should refuse the role of Dragon Warrior. How about The Chameleon suffered from an illness that prevented her from becoming a Kung Fu master - and so, she turned to magic to steal the powers of masters to become the strongest warrior alive (but never truly gets over her illness; which is why she continues to steal so many). The Chameleon eventually hires Zhen to steal Po's staff - which she does, but is confronted by Shifu and is forced to take him as well. The Chameleon opens the Spirit Realm to summon Kung Fu masters and steal their powers...but Tai Lung escapes. Po struggles to choose the right candidate, but then Tai Lung reveals The Chameleon's plan. They head to Juniper City to take down the Chameleon. On their way, Tai Lung and Po train and begin to learn from each other - but the Furious Five still have trouble trusting Tai Lung. Once there, they meet up with Zhen, who agrees to help them…for a price. They head to the Chameleon's lair, but Zhen betrays them and the Chameleon steals their Kung Fu (minus Po, Tigress and Tai Lung who narrowly escape). Po and Tai Lung get into a duel after Po loses his confidence, but Tai Lung encourages him. Zhen realizes her mistakes and helps Po convince the Den of Thieves to stop the Chameleon. As the villagers battle the Chameleon's army, Po, Tigress and Tai Lung try to fight the Chameleon but get overwhelmed when the Chameleon turns into a horrifying Chimaera. The Chameleon then steals their powers, and soon overpowers them. Po gives Tigress his staff, with which she summons a majestic dragon of Yin and Yang, which defeats the Chameleon; and PO uses the staff to return all of the stolen kung fu skills to their owners, who return to the Spirit Realm. Shen and Kai take the Chameleon with them. As Tai Lung departs, Po closes the portal; allowing Tai Lung to stay and further redeem himself. Tai Lung gives his respect to Po and finally acknowledges him as the true Dragon Warrior. Zhen is also given the new role of leader to the Den of Thieves. Back at the Valley, Tai Lung reunites with Shifu, expressing that he will wait as long as it takes to be forgiven…before having a cup of warm tea with his old master. Po finally chooses Tigress as his successor. And so, Po and Tai Lung help train Tigress to become the next Dragon Warrior. I liked your version as well, man. This is just the version I'd go with if the people were trying to go for a female successor - 'cause Tigress would obviously be the right choice. But to be honest, Tai Lung would still be my prefered choice.

I really like how you wrote out the beginning part with Tai Lung holding his own against the Chameleon and ultimately escaping. That all fits his character really well. I would maybe have him more grudgingly express his decision to team up with Po, just to establish his role as an anti-hero. I feel like the Furious Five kind of became an afterthought when Po, Tai Lung, and Shifu went off to defeat the Chameleon though, so I would consider tying their missions from the film into the plot (with Crane and Mantis' missions being slightly altered). Especially for the final battle, when Po and Tai Lung team up against the Chameleon. I would also include the tavern and boat scenes from the film, but with Tai Lung filling Zhen's role in a more nuanced way that fits his character. This could also tie in with the boat battle against the archers in this video. I really do like the idea of Po and Tai Lung having to learn to work together, especially after Shifu is captured (which I would include as part of a dramatic climax in the film). For the final battle, the Furious Five and Po's fathers could arrive to help take down the Chameleon's lizard army, while Po and Tai Lung team up against the Chameleon herself. Maybe Zhen could replace the hooded monster, and I would scrap the idea of the Chameleon being Tai Lung's mother and the whole thing being arranged by Oogway himself. However, I would definitely keep the idea of Po passing on the title of Dragon Warrior to Tai Lung. Maybe at the end, have Shifu ascend to the Spirit Realm in a similar way that Oogway did. Then cut to Zhen (having survived the final battle) trying to rob the Jade Palace. Po and Tai Lung easily take Zhen down together, and Tai Lung prepares a nerve strike before having her sent off to prison, but Po goes, "Wait, I have a better idea!" Then there is a post-credits scene of Po and Tai Lung training up the next generation of Kung Fu warriors, including Zhen and some of the candidates from the Dragon Warrior ceremony.

I know people hold different opinions towards wrapping up Tai Lung’s redemption arc finishing with Po naming him his next successor. For many they would like it better if he declines, but I actually like your fanfic rewrite better as it shows that Oogway is in favor of giving him another chance, even going as far as fulfilling his wish from the first movie if he shows genuine change which by no means undoes the narrative of the first movie, and Shifu would be proud. However I am critical as to why the Chameleon lizard is also his mom. That part makes no sense. As for the part about Po passing the title of dragon warrior on to Tai Lung, though I like the idea, I still think he would need to gain the valley and Master Shifu’s trust first through community service and teaming up with Po on his missions so that he‘s no longer feared, and that way he can be accepted for the title. So I think Po should choose a different successor to temporarily take his place in the meantime before Tai Lung’s turn comes, like Zhen or even Tigress. Still I like the idea as the fourth movie wasted a good chance for him. Any chance that he should reject the title when given to him by Po, though it does not sound like something he’d do, I’m sure it’s because he’s come to the realization that even with the role of the dragon warrior their come some disadvantages, like different tasks and duties to carry out that are too much to handle and he’s not ready to face that yet. For me I think personal reasons should affect his decision making rather than his mentors choosing his path for him. Another thought I had was he gives the title to his nephew Peng, passing on his name and legacy. Still it’s great to see that your fanfic rewrite video evokes the idea that inherent destiny is not set in stone by your mentors but can also be shaped through the decision making of students as well, depending on how they evolve and gain the trust of others. Great video. The writers really missed a golden opportunity to give Tai Lung a redemption and have him team up with Po. One of the best Kung Fu Panda fanfiction A Different Lesson has a good redemption for Tai Lung. Another movie I think deserves a good rewrite is Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken. It was alright movie, but I feel it could have been great movie.

How to make the best movie out of the 3. 1. At the start we should get backstory of the chameleon and have her story take place around the time shifu trained tai lung, their are bandits constantly robbing her, and her family made the chameleon hope for a champion. Soon she hears of a new student being trained at the jade palace. And eventually we get new story showing tai lung protecting the valley which he most likely did for a long time since both shifu and oogway felt no need for a furious 5. Anyways She keeps hoping that this new hero will come save her until one day tai lung actually does help her putting her full faith in him after this, of course until she hears that her hero betrayed the valley and attacked the people. This then caused the bandits to come back and likely caused a lot of chaos throughout the valley since tai lung was the only member actively protecting the valley. Feeling betrayed by her hero she then seeks out a way to train herself but is shut down by everyone not because of her size but because of her drive we will change it to her wanting revenge against the bandits which goes against the code “you are not supposed to go and pick fights with people just because you know they are bad it is only to protect the innocents.” So feeling even more betrayed she wonders home after her travels and stumbles across some witch hut place “idk trying to find an excuse for magic since there are literally no characters who have this” and she sees a lady performing magic, getting an idea she begs the witch to teach her and she eventually does. The witch teaches her defensive magic from a book that is basically for magic spells and doesn’t really harm people, the chameleon at this point is fine with this but is bothered she cannot learn from the forbidden section of the book. After this the chameleon forms a close bond to the witch and goes home to visit family, unfortunately she is confronted by the bandits again and while she is strong her magic can do nothing agains the bandits do to their numbers and she is defeated. She returns to the witch and begs her to teach her the forbidden magic but refuses and causes the witch to have to kick her out. Like Kai feeling betrayed by her closest friend comes back in the dead of night and steals the book, but is confronted by the witch who is then defeated by the chameleon using the forbidden magic and steals her magic, likely killing her in the process. This then leads the chameleon down the path of being power hungry absorbing the powers of everyone who wronged her or she deems evil. She saves other lizards throughout the valley and this is why she has the army of lizards they feel in debt to her since she saved them. Soon she hears of the new dragon warrior and his battles with tai lung, kai, and shen as well as many others. She however does not like this since the last time she put her faith in a so called “dragon warrior” it ended in disaster. She wonders how she will be able to defeat him since she knows at this point her magic isn’t strong enough. Until she hears about Po returning from the spirit world using his mystical staff, she knows if she can get that staff she likely will be able to congregate hundreds of evil warriors from beyond the grave so that she can absorb their power and become strong enough to defeat Po and bring true peace to the valley. She then gets the staff and like before summons all of those before, until she thinks of tai lung, when she brings him back she speaks to him and ask him “do you remember me? How you saved me all those years ago? Yes, you do, and I put my faith in you to protect me and my family and what did that get me? NOTHING!” As they battle Kai is shaken by this because he hasn’t thought about how his choice effected the people he saved since before he was blinded by rage but this Kai has had time to heal in peace knowing that he was defeated and there was nothing he could do anymore. This causes the slightest opening and she takes it to steal his powers. 2. Po and his friend as they travel begin to notice people that have fighting capabilities beyond that of a normal person and like how oogway picked the furious 5, poo goes on a similar path finding his own new furious 5. With the fox girl basically becoming the leader like Tigres was. 3. The reason the furious 5 where not in the story was because like po they all became masters. And since po was strong enough to handle himself and the valley they left to protect other valleys across China. This is why they needed a new furious 5 since while po might be strong he still is having issues keeping the valley 100% safe without exhausting himself. 4. After po and his new team defeat the chameleon he notices tai lung and vice versa, he sees how much he has changed and as his final act as dragon worrior offers tai lung the position. Tai lung stops and thinks about everything that has happened in his life, and thinks back to the moment he and po fought and po told him “there is no secret ingredient, it’s just you” and tai lung gets shaken, for the first time he thinks about what he truly wants and he tells po, “no, not right now at least. I’m… not ready for a responsibility that big after everything I did… po then walks up to him and tells him that is the same way he felt, the burden at the start was almost more than he could handle at times. But I have walked that path and if you’d like I can walk you through it, tai lung moved by this bows to po, while the other villians just roll thier eyes and ask “not to ruin the moment but can you send us back we are tired of looking at your happy little ending” as po apologizes and lets them go “it’s much better than how they all bowed because they 100% would not do this”. 5. We then see Po and tai lung at the ceremony to announce to the public the new dragon warrior, shifu and everyone is there and shifu looks at kai after everything and tells him the same thing from the first movie “I’ve always been proud of you” as Po tells tai lung to come out and announces that he is the new dragon warrior the people although kinda off put since they remember what he did all those years ago begin to come around as tai lung bows and tells everyone how sorry he is and that he will work every day to fix what he did all those years ago, tai lung gets nervous thinking that they still won’t accept him but he hears a clap, and then another, until the entire crowd erupts in cheer and he stands up and smiles as the movie ends.

I have mixed feelings on this re-write. On one hand, I like what you did with Tai Lung’s dynamic with Po and Shifu, but on the other hand, I feel as if a better conclusion for him would be to accept that he wasn’t meant to be the Dragon Warrior. It would be satisfying to see him grow out of his obsession from the first movie and movie on. Also, the twist of The Chameleon being Tai Lung’s mom just doesn’t make sense to me. I liked your previous re-write about her a lot better.

interesting option, however, tai lung agreed to fight with po and go on that whole journey because he wanted to protect the valley of peace and be a good guy, and becoming the dragon warrior would make him an official protector that everyone will praise and not fear. So even tho your version could be more satisfying it would make more sense to the rewrite if he was the dragon warrior, plus it would be a good setup for future movies

I agree. The Videos had Awesome ideas. The only thing I disagree is Tai-Lung's ending in becoming The Dragon-Warrior & the whole ending with Tai-Ling's parents & Oogway. Tai-Lung's true arc should be acceptance along with his redemption. Tai-Lung does not need the title to prove his greatness or worthiness. Id keep Zhen as the Next Dragon Warrior personally even though I too dont have much of a deep connection with the character. The rest of the video in regards to Tai-Lung's redemption is pitch perfect, I just dont think he needs to be The DW by the end of it. I think it'd be better that he travels the world by the end of the story & starts his own Kung-Fu school while teaching & speading the knowledge & wisdom by both Po & Shifu about modesty & learning to accept rejection. It would be better for Tai-Lung to instill this wisdom while also showcasing what Shifu failed to teach him. If Shifu had done this, he would've taught Tai-Lung the lesson of Humbleness, Humility, Modesty, & the ability to face rejection & to keep working hard while empathizing that he will always be proud of him & love him. Tai-Lungs struggle & downfall was entirely revolved around the weight of expectations & misguided sense of validation & destiny. I think this guys essay describes the character of Tai-Lung & his complex & compelling relationship with Shifu perfectly. Also, it would be an excellent parrelel going forward if Tigress is the one who trains Zhen to become The Dragon-Warrior while Po continues as the Current DW & trains to be The Spiritual-Successor like Oogway. Tigress & Zhen would be the perfect Female Counterpart & Parrelel to Shifu & Po. Tigress much like Tai-Lung was Shifu's most prized student & his 2nd Adopted Child. Both Shifu & Tigress had doubts about Po being the Dragon-Warrior & Tigress in the first film succeeded what Tai-Lung couldnt by accepting that she was never meant to be the Dragon-Warrior as Shifu accepted not being the Next Spiritual-Leader. I’ve seen that video, but I don’t agree with your point. It would bother me if he still continued to face rejection for it. I understand why lots of people are against that. For me however I like it better to see Po favor his wish in return, so this fanfic rewrite video fits perfect for me up to the end, except for the part about his parents which doesn’t add up. Anyways, who said his true redemption arc should be discarding his original dreams. I would hate to think that. That’s up to him. Would it be against Oogway’s wishes, is that what you’re worried about? Cause that’s the least of my worries and I don’t care what he says about that. Anyways, I don’t think Oogway really expects for his students to seek a different path chosen for them to reach their goals. That kind of talk just doesn’t add up with his true philosophy about inherent destiny based on what I read, but lots of people think that based on the context of the first movie. I think his main focus is just to make sure his students maintain serenity and balance to keep peace in the valley with whatever path they choose rather than choosing a specific path for them. Tai Lung only got rejected because he pushed his luck too far, and his true destiny was never specified in the first movie because he never really had one. It’s just not Oogway’s job. But it’s not too late for that. If Po can learn it, why not him. So even this alternate ending where he finally gets the opportunity from Po also works, depending on how he builds everyone’s trust. It’s not because Oogway never wanted to grant him the title, he just wanted Master Shifu to help mentor him by teaching him to embrace new values while he looked for a different champion to temporarily take the role to avoid the danger and risk it posed, so this ending certainly fits. Just read up on what other people have said going back to the first film. Also I think Master Shifu was born to take Master Oogway’s place at the Valley’s next spiritual leader instead of Po, and it’s not too late for that either. Inherent destiny is not set in stone. But I still respect your opinion nonetheless. Here’s an idea I had that hopefully works with you. Maybe he is offered the job by Po but rejects the title instead because he has come to learn that even with the role of the dragon warrior, there comes some disadvantages too like different tasks and duties he’s not ready to face yet, so he gives it to his nephew instead but thanks Po nonetheless. And Shifu too is in favor of whatever he wants for himself, now that he has gained his trust. That way no one is forcing their will on him any longer of telling him who he should be, even if he changes his mind, and I would hate to think that the first movie was all for that. Hopefully not. Anyways, just wanted to share my thoughts with you and hope you like the idea I suggested if you’re not satisfied with this one, although I am. I also understand Po was chosen for a reason as confirmed in the third film, so even then he would still be selected to be first in line, but that is just a temporary thing as destiny does not always have to be based off a prophecy. The choice of a new successor at this point is now Po’s decision, not Oogway’s. As for the rogue fox bandit Zhen who Po recruits as his sidekick, some people may like her as Po’s next candidate, but I did not, just cause it felt like she was stealing someone else’s spotlight. I’m glad she was written out of this version of the story. Even Tigress seems like a worthy successor, but that’s for a future story.
