For me, when I feel my opponent shift his head out over his toes on his far foot, I rotate down into a drop-knee taio without even thinking about it. I have never practiced this version of the throw, it just feels right when I get that input. I can do it right or left handed, though I don't get a good rotation of uke to his back left-handed, whereas right-handed I get them right down onto their shoulders. When I'm teaching the kids classes I teach a classic version, not drop.
