How to Replace the Airsoft Firing Unit on a Taigen Tank (updated quick swap method)

I'm a complete NOOB with RC tanks. I bought a Panzer III Heng Long that was new in the box. It all seems to work fine except the elevation of the cannon. I realize this "isn't" the Panzer III and is the Tiger 1, but I thought that internal components might be universal to some degree (at least by manufacturer). At 9:25 you mention the "Elevation Gear" and it looks like the white gear at the back of the turret. Does the underside of this gear have a "worm" type gear to it so it goes through the full up and then the downward travel? Pretty sure mine is totally missing this stuff. Hard to diagnose when parts "may" be missing. Thanks ahead of time and nice video....sometimes hard to hear your voice but I'm old too..... Ha!

thanks for this timely how to video - i was able to swap my unit without going to the trouble of soldering wires. but since it is t34/85 i have to pry out the green hatch/loader from the original airsoft unit (which i managed to break) and glue it to the donor unit. nonetheless - it was still a success. i wonder what makes the unit fail.

I'm glad I could help! Sometimes the gears are not correctly lubed or can be damaged when inserting the motor like I did in the video. If you press the motor too hard in and the metal pinion gear presses against the nylon gears you can break a tooth or chip it enough to fire a few times before destroying itself. Luckily the units are cheap and easy to replace. If the motor is inserted correctly it should last a while this time!

I have a Sherman and the airsoft gun keeps firing when I turn it on. It just keeps firing. Everyone else works fine but the airsoft gun just keeps firing off without me doing anything. Any idea what’s causing it and how I can fix it?

Im trying to make my own rc tank and I want to get this system but where can I get it? if not possible i will try to make my own but its for an m4 Sherman based tank

can you use 6mm steel slingshot balls in the airsoft units

If they are 6mm they should fit, however the recommended pellets are the plastic airsoft type. Firing the metal ones is not recommended, however airsoft units are cheap and easy to replace if you wish to experiment :)

after you take the shooting unit off can the barrel slide out or move in and out to convert it to recoil? I have this same taigen metal turret but I wouldnt mind having it recoil now. I remember seeing a recoil upgrade for them to be out soon.ty.

With modification it is possible yes. I do have extra barrels so do not worry about messing yours up if you wish to try.

Taigen Tanks thank you again im going to order that barrel. you have a german tank commander for a real good price. I bought the same one from a store in the uk for more than that price and shipping was alittle more too. I wish I seen this site first.thank you very much for the help.
