🎍New Year's celebration in Japan🎍 〜日本のお正月〜 Japan Vlog | easy Japanese home cooking recipe

In this video, I am not cooking but instead am showing how we celebrate Japanese new years traditionally in our modern time. This starts with the cleaning of the house, getting the New Years decorations out, then comes the Kohaku Utagassen (song battle) and closing the old year with Toshikoshi-Soba. Then the first day of the year starts with Hatsu-hinode (first sunrise), then Osechi-ryori (New Years feast) and I show at the end the Nenga-jo (traditional New Years greeting cards).
In my channel, I show authentic but alternative Japanese home cooking, which can be made with the ingredients that are available outside of Japan.

Although I tried many times to find a good japnese youtuber but i didn't get what i always saw in the anime. One day i found yours n after going through some videoes i found this one as i always wanted to see. I am so glad to find your videoes. I have always been fascinated by the japnese culture just coz of my love towards anime n manga. When you admire something and you're happy to read it in a book or see it in an anime, there's a lot more joy when you listen to all those things from a native. There wasn't any show off in your video and i like the peaceful atmosphere of Japan . Here n india we have lot of similarties. Like in india I (hindu girl)also worship Sun, and i am talking about my new year (indian hindu newyear) it's celebrating way is like yours. Eating special foods n doing worship, going temples. Ah, I've been to Japan in New Year's and I was so happy to be able to celebrate it (I was in Nagoya 2010-2011 on exchange, then in Koka during 2014-2015)! I miss Ozoni especially, and Hatsumoude. By the way your family home is very lovely!

Happy new year…kazunoko is my favorite but it’s so expensive…try marinating kazunoko with shoyu, suri daikon,lemon and dash of black pepper……new year meals are the best…

New Years in America 2022...I cried all the way through this video. I had to pause it many times to cry. I've been dreaming of living in Japan since I was 12, and every year it gets harder not to be there. (I'm 30). Once Covid is over, I think I have to go. I need a Mochi machine. We use to order it from our Buddhist temple but they didn’t make any the last couple of years. It’s hard to get fresh Mochi at New Years in San Diego California. We cook our Zoni with the Mochi in the soup in the pan. Aren’t you supposed to eat enough black beans for your age? I think everything on your plate was your favorite

oh, ya, making Mochi without the mochi-machine is quite impossible... about the beans, I think you are (or your source has) mixed up with Setsubun, which comes on Feb. 3rd, where we through roasted soy beans at a demon (usually the father disguise as Oni with a mask) and we eat the number of these beans as our age on this day. i will make another video on Japanese seasonal festivals, so pls wait for that for full explanation!!
