Hack: I use a motorcycle style elastic net to be able to carry extra’s on top of my aeropack, such as my raincoat, clothing that needs to dry during the day, my tent or a sandwich that needs consuming later. (I did puncture my sleeping mattress by carrying it on to of the bag when I went off road and landed in a bush of thorns)

That's a great hack Ivar, thanks for sharing with everyone!

Also used the extender mount for the seatpost to be able to mount a bidon holder on the back of my saddle.

The extender mount is too short for many. On a typical bike setup, 54 size and below, the saddle eats a lot of the pack. I had one made at a local shop, 110 mm, works perfect. Even in this video (03:11 and 05:50) the saddle is eating the AeroPack. I think this issue is the weakest link in the Tailfin lineup. Everything else is suburb!

Hi Allan, the reason we settled on the 50mm extender length is because in testing this length provided the same durability & reliability as the standard length, essentially the longer you go, the likelihood of you introducing a weak point in the system increases. We appreciate this might fit your bike the best and love the creativity but we cannot guarantee any 3rd party modifications on our rack systems.

Thanks@@TailfinCycling, appreciate the response. I get it. It is a product management choice. You **could* make the connection to the AeroPack plate reinforced, and use 3 or 4 screws, maybe use an i-beam shape for the metal flange, or whatever. At the end of the day, for smaller riders, 20% of the bag is unusable, that's just how it is. Not a hater, but the design is compromised when the pack is under the saddle. Anyhow, great video series!

I have one and really like it. However the cross straps fall off both ends (and I do pack it evenly) which therefore requires me to ‘tie’ them together. Is there another way to keep them on top as they should be?
@TailfinCycling Жыл бұрын
Hi @robinmacandrew103 we recommend buckling the straps in an X format to resolve this. If you check out our handy pre-ride checks guide you can find out more info on this - www.tailfin.cc/guides/maintenance-repairs/pre-ride-checks-ensure-a-safe-ride/?v=79cba118546

I wish I had seen this comment a few days ago :( unfortunately with my size 54 aeropack it turned out to be a pointless purchase.

I heard from reviews the size 20L is no way near as claimed. Is this with bag open? When closed as recommend, what's the largest volume then? Thanks

I have a 49 trek checkpoint (carbon), what’s the best fitting tool i should choose? thanks

Hey, can you please confirm the exact model / year of the frame so we can double check this for you!

I have the Aeropack and 10ltr mini panniers. For my Enigma Escape I needed the universal thru axle. I have never yet managed to fit or release it in seconds. Its as if the arch is not quite bent to the correct shape and I find it a struggle to fit.
@TailfinCycling Жыл бұрын
Hi Ken, Thanks for getting in touch, for the Enigma Escape frame we do recommend the universal thru axle as this axle choice is supplied with an extender which provides the best fit and clearance for titanium frame dropouts. make sure to use the spacers supplied to align the arch as central as possible and hopefully this will resolve some of your issues. However, if you still need further help please reach out to us via hello@tailfin.cc and we will resolve this for you.

@@TailfinCycling Thanks for the advice, was using the wrong spacer, much better now.

Could I fit a computer that's 260mm wide lying down in this? I would like to avoid panniers for my computer alone and take my road bike to work and longer touring rides, this is the first solution I've seen that could do that without compromising the point of a carbon frame. I am a small rider, my bike is a 54 but it has a modified seat post to be fairly low to fit me.
@TailfinCycling8 ай бұрын
Hey, This depends on saddle height and set-back. The panniers would perhaps be a better option all round for you. If you email in with some photos of your bike we can take a look - hello@tailfin.cc
