Sammy, what are your thoughts on using something like an 8000 spin reel to combo with a 12ft rod to bait fish for tailor ? I don’t mind the Alvey but want to put together a solid spinning combo to use when chasing tailor and jew etc off the beach

Best part of that vid was at the end Sammy, " gutter etiquette". I think this applies to all styles of fishing whether we be novices or experienced anglers . Fishing is a great way to relax, socialize, meet new people, get a feed and learn new tips. I love passing on knowledge and learning as well and if everyone can get on together it makes the experience so much better ! Bloody hell, that was deep.... Another great vid mate, keep it up.

Seeing as the Tailor are coming on here in the Northern Rivers NSW I thought I'd do a refresher of Sammy's tips. Got 3x nice 450mm fish in the evening, the best tip was the half pilly's on the bigger (5/0) double gangs. They fight like buggery, so much fun. Now for a refresher of Sammy's Tailor smoking tutorial because I'm going back out tonight. Thanks for all the info you share Sammy, it's a big help.

I’m in WA and use the savage salt2 6-10kg 12 foot for bait fishing with a penn 750ssm with 30lb braid and 60lb leader with fairly heavy star sinkers. I just recently caught a 112cm mulloway (Jew) off the beach with no trouble at all the rod is plenty strong enough for the bigger fish with a decent sinker on it too. I use the same rod in 9 foot with a Daiwa AIRD LT 4000 with 20lb braid and 25lb leader for lure fishing and regularly pull in salmon around 90cm with no problem. Both rods work extremely well on tailor And larger species too

Oi sinker weight depends on wat your rod can handle, iv got a 2 to 4 oz bluefish zero if i put a 5 or 6 oz on ill never get the distance of a 4 oz
@SammyHitzkeFishing Жыл бұрын
That’s true, but it also depends on the conditions. If it’s rough or there’s a lot sweep you’ll need more weight to your bait in one spot. If the rod you’re using can’t handle casting the additional weight then you might need to have a second heavier set up on hand. When we chase tailor we often have 3 bait set ups and 1 spin set up on the car ready to Go 👍
