At the beginning,the hexagonal chaos emerald is known as the Phantom Ruby.The Phantom Ruby almost looks like a Chaos emerald at first,but then you will see that it is hexagonal.Another difference is that it can invert you to other places and dimensions.Anyway,that was just some helpful info.

The sad thing is that Sonic was not originally mute. It's just that Sega is going to lazy path and copying Nintendo. He not only had dialogue in Sonic CD, but Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast was supposed to be a continuation of the classic story lines. This silent protagonist thing is just laziness because they've screwed up the character so many times recently.
