Appreciate your unbiased review. The 23 Vanquish also has the slow oscillation and casts extremely well.

Great video. I have both brand new Stella FK and 22 Exist and 2 of the older models brand new stull (Stella FJ & Exist LT). The Exist is extremely light and buttery smooth. The stella is a bit heavier but buttery smooth. I love to collect fishing tackles and fished a lot back than for fun. To me, the Stella wins it for a all rounded reel that will match any mid to high-end rods. Both the Exist only matches extremely light rods or else it'll tip heavy. Problem with the Exist is that, there's really no need to up grade to a newer model besides the newer air bail and drag system. The 18 Exist LT looks better (no fat handle and spool) same gear system basically. Now with the Stella, they upgraded pretty much almost everything besides the cosmetics. I just love high end gears because they hold their values way better if we take care of em. I just love being real and not attatch to any brand. I have pretty much 90% of all the high-end in US. Maybe I'll put up some tackle videos in the future when I'm not too busy working all the time. Keep the great work!

I feel the same way about the reel feel on their casting reels. They are both smooth but, the Shimano have that little bit of resistance that I like.

The interchangeable spools and ease of maintenance from a Shimano is a no brainer for me. I mean you can use a 2500 spool on a 3000 , 4000 on a 5000 and viceversa on both because they share bodies. That, and most of us can't send in our daiwas for service or a simple bearing change.

Get the newest Twin Power- it looks better and just as smooth as the Stella 22. It even has the slow oscillation for line management too! Plus on the price tag- it's a no-brainer!

Does Daiwa USA have the same service warranty that they have in Japan for the Exist? I read somewhere that you are part of the Exist club and can send it in for free servicing for life or something?

I love you reviews however you have a tendency to show your favourite reel first, which made this review predictable even before I started watching it. I also believe you are more of a Shimano fan which is fine as they do make great reels. I have both a Exist and a Stella. The drag on the Exist, when fighting a fish is much better then the Stella. I am not biased I prefer the Exist's action while fishing and using it more then the Stella.

Shimano anyday. In my opinion the daiwa will always feel more smoother than shimano and light on the inertia of rotation. But shimano really offer more for the price you are paying. All those physical seals, air drive etc etc. All daiwa can include is the big Ole main gear, mq body and mag seal. Mag seal is proven to fail over time. It's a fluid, not a physical seal. rinsing it over time, dunking it, or even lubricating the reel like the shaft, the side bearings that contain the mag seal bearing etc etc. Those mag seals get contaminated and eventually loses its integrity. Think of it as a sticker, you keep touching the sticky side with your oily fingers or whatever and over time it doesn't feel as sticky like it did at first. I enjoy both my daiwa and shimano, but shimano is where the money is at. You literally just get more what you pay for. The eyes don't lie.

Sorry, not buying the slow oscillation concept. When line is stacked that close together, it will be more prone to digging into itself. I guess if you don’t catch big enough fish, it may never be an issue. Can’t go wrong with EITHER (yes, I’ve owned both, but personally prefer the Exist). And no, the Exist is not only a “finesse” reel, it’s the most solid (and tight) spinning reel I’ve ever owned, and have stayed that way through years of heavy use. Mine are well tested on Great Lakes smallmouth (those that know, know), and when you fish there, you will also catch your fair share of 10-20lb drum and catfish - my comment that the Exist will hold up fine with heavy use is based on catching these types of fish - on a 2500 sized reel! BOTH will. The biggest (and really the only) negative to the Exist is that you will need a special tool and special magnetic oil (both of which I could only find by buying directly from Japan) if you choose to service/maintain them yourself. Daiwa will do it for FREE the first 5 years you own the reel though. If you’re going to make a comparison review, you might want to at least try and hide your bias. (Sorry to be blunt.) Maybe look up The Hooked Up Tackle’s review of both reels to see how an unbiased comparison review should be. Appreciate your efforts though, reviews are helpful to people.

Have to disagree the show oscillation will equal longer casts. Side by side comparisons in the real world are the only way to know.
@jjohnsind
@jjohnsind Ай бұрын
@@NorthweSteelheadJunkies I HAVE - no consistent, measurable differences. If anything, the Exist casts a little better. If the line catches (from a dug in wrap), all bets are off, the cast will be hindered. Just my opinion, and actual experiences. BOTH reels are solid reels to have, I liked the Exist better (and the weight difference IS noticeable - for the better), but was happy with both. I ended up selling my Stella to get another Exist though. Also, for the record, Daiwa once touted "cross wrapping", where the spool oscillates at different speeds, basically to cross wrap the line so that it does NOT dig into itself. Not sure what happened to it, whether it didn't work or if its standard in reels now and they don't mention it anymore. Point is that there is another "theory", completely opposite of Shimano's. Line WILL dig into itself though, and braid is more prone to it.

Exist and Stella they're both great top notch reel in their respected brand name, but when comes down to it; i just prefer the aesthetic design of the stella more; i just like shape and the feel of the reel. plus the price for the stella is a bit more reasonable. regards to the exist i find the design is bit bulky and boring; that just my personal opinion
