One thing I love about my first generation salt x is the meaty bail wire. Is it just me, I feel that it looks much thinner on the gen2.

Did you say a 7 ft. rod? my personal choice is minumum 8'6". I have nto seen anywhere that sayd the Twin Power is a sealed reel. And that is why I do not use a Vanford for salt water. I went to the Diawa BG MQ. Light and smooth for those 150 cast days. On a Hawaiian 10'6".

Nothing really. This rod had titanium guides so in all reality it’s probably more saltwater proof than their other saltwater stuff lol

That's a LOT of plastic for the hook to get through on a hookset. And a lot of bait for the fish to use to throw. Think this would be better set up as a line-through.

Nasci FC is a great reel for the money I have a 2500 I use for some freshwater stuff. I’ve been torn lately between grabbing a Spheros SW 3000 or a Nasci FC 3000 for a lightweight salt setup up where I’m throwing artificials. They basically have the same exact specs and tech which is really interesting, lol but I wonder which would perform and survive the salt better long term. 🤔

I’ve used a $50 Laguna with $10 upgraded carbon drag washers to land 40inch redfish and 35inch snook with 20lb braid. I’ve had it for 2 years of saltwater shore fishing and it’s still going strong. Make sure to oil the line roller and you’re good.

Nice - do you ever cut the pinfish head off? That's how I was taught.
@tailwateroutfitters9 күн бұрын
I do on the larger pins, but I like to leave it for the smaller ones. I think they cast better hooked near the tail with the head on
@CanalLifeSWFL9 күн бұрын
@@tailwateroutfittersthanks - I’ll try that. It may keep the smaller ones from washing out too fast. Just never tried.
@tailwateroutfitters8 күн бұрын
@@CanalLifeSWFL yea they tend to hold up great for me when I prepare them like that. I cut all the fins and tail, but leave the head, then hook them near the base of the tail

4” spooltek would be as small as I’d go. That’s 1/2 oz I think
