By the way, the reason why they moved up the first guide is probably line wraps around the blank in windy conditions. Recoils are lighter but there is a significant drop off from guide size after 3rd guide. This can easily cause knots on thicker braid getting stuck or even damaging the guides. Old one is rated until 40 lb braid. I'm not sure that could even pass through without slowing down on a cast.

huge fan of lower 1st guides on rods.... higher up you will get a lot of line droop/slag and in the wind, as your turn the handle, you can get wind knots. i just left a rod for this issue... the 1st guide was like 3 feet up the blank

I appreciate the video. Thanks. As for the NRX plus, I cant see the justification for the price tag. Its an old Loomis blank with a shimano xrap, some good guides but not premium, with some shimano plastic reel seat and cork. Theres better components available that for this price tag Id expect to be on the rod.
@tailwateroutfitters Жыл бұрын
Of course! It’s a killer rod, but you’re right, theres definitely some expense in just the name on it

I agree with you about the price tag, BUT why I pay that price is for the warranty, not much brand on the market offer a life time warranty like this. And yes I used the warranty before and they are super smooth and replace right away
@ETuss713 Жыл бұрын
@@ninja_mina warranty has zero bearing on me buying a rod. Gary Loomis has nothing to do with this company. He is with North Fork Composites (NFC) which has developed 2 newer and significantly better series of rod blanks over what went into the NRX and NRX+. No longer are the NRX blanks USA made. Not putting torzite titanium guides on a $600 rod is an insult. I'm a rod builder. With the current NRX+, I could build a comparable rod for around $150 and a better one for $200 in parts. Theres no way the added 400-500 dollars over that is justified
@ninja_min Жыл бұрын
@@ETuss713 I know that Gary Loomis is not involved anymore. He even try to start a other company. On my side I buy this rod first for the quality build. Yes they are expensive and yes the price tag are related with the name for sure. But like I said I have many many rods and let me tell you when you spend 4 300$ on a good rod and brake after 2 years and company said they can't do nothing that piss me off. Now in my arsenal I have only G Loomis and St Croix rods. I return many rods with both company and never had any problems to received a new one. even after 5 years owning them

Fuji SiC Guides are a gamechanger ?! Why No Torzites?
@tannerhornsby5595 Жыл бұрын
Because torzite guides are more expensive can crack and they are not easy to replace in most shops Vs Fuji FIC is always available lightweight and any rod shop can replace them.

I prefer the fresh water version handle reel seat style/position, the saltwater reel seat handle is a bit uncomfortable for my taste, because like to choke up my reel and like to have more surface area in the fore grip area

Same blank as the Nrx + JWR?

I purchased an NRX+ 902 recently, was so pumped to get one of these rods, was a dream rod, sadly when it was delivered I discovered that the rod had a rattle, it was as if something was loose inside the blank, the guides were all intact so it definitely wasn’t them, when I complained to the shop I purchased it from I was told that this was a common issue with G Loomis rods, they said that they could exchange it but that it would more then likely happen again, I ended up going for a different brand, I’m based in Australia so not sure if this is a case of fuck it it’s just Australia let’s just send em our shit, poor form don’t bother.

The handle is off in my opinion. Why the hell did they put the lockdown at the front of the grip. Looks like crap and feels like crap. Spinning rods should all be rear lockdown so that users who want to choke up on the handle in front of the reel don’t have an awkward feel. Just my 2 cents
