Taiwan Battered - Super Typhoon Krathon With 175 km/h Blows Up Buildings in Kaohsiung
Thousands of residents have already reported power outages, and there are reports of fallen trees, traffic lights, and power lines, with Kaohsiung City bearing the brunt of Typhoon Krathon, as the eye of the storm approaches the coast of southwestern Taiwan this morning, Thursday, October 3. A strong wind advisory is in effect for all counties and cities on Taiwan’s west coast, along with offshore islands, Taitung County, Keelung City, and the north coast of New Taipei City. Thirteen cities and counties extending from the south of Taiwan up to Miaoli in the north are now under a land warning for Typhoon Krathon, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Wednesday. The 13 cities and counties currently included in the warning are: Nantou, Chiayi County, Chiayi City, Pingtung, Changhua, Penghu, Taichung, Tainan, Taitung, Hualien, Miaoli, Yunlin and Kaohsiung.
