Dumplings, Wantons, Pot Stickers, Hargow, Perogies, Momos!!! Whatever you call them in any part of the world you know they are going to be delicious morsels of flavour packed into a parcel. Glad you have a big gob to fit them in as there absolutely a "one biter". That Pork Bao honestly it could have tasted terrible but the more Thomas described each component in each bite it had me salivating more by the second. Love the fresh julienned young ginger accompanying alot of the foods you tried here. Well l guess thats Taiwan, lm off to Italy for more "Chasing A Plate".

I will be on 8 days sightseeing by local travel agencies and I got another 6 days free & easy. Looking at taking the high speed railway from Taipei to Kaohsiung where my cousin can meet me there. The one place while in Kaohsiung I will want to go Cijing island which is 5mins ferry from Kaohsiung port. Plenty of seafood, cheap & good. My mother is the only person whether she can endure the hectic schedule but over years that she prove to be rather strong even as age catches up on her. Thanks Sheena & Thomas for your information.

Hi guys, wonderful videos. Wow Kaohsiung have changed a lot since the last time that I was back home. And yes, I'm from that area on 5+ 2nd St. Miss the food and the atmosphere. Did you guys visit Kaohsiung during the weekdays or weekends? If you guys happened to visit on the week days than you guys missed out on the night market portion. They also bring out wonderful food and snacks out to sale. Also, New Years is crazy there too. But have fun and enjoy yourself while over there. I know you guys will be spoiled and not visit other countries after this. Hahaha.....

Hi Yang Lu! Thanks for watching and commenting! We're so happy you enjoyed our Taiwan videos. Kaohsiung is one of our favourite cities in Taiwan. We find the people so friendly and the city is so laid back! We didn't visit any night markets on this trip but we have visited a few in the past 😄 Whereabouts do you live now? I bet you miss the food in Taiwan! Hope you enjoy the Japan content we have coming up Yang Lu, thanks for taking the time to say hi! Cheers, Sheena
@yanglu95556 жыл бұрын
Sheena, I currently reside in the State of North Carolina here in the great land of United States, however, the food is not the best. Unlike Taiwan the food here are canned, frozen, dried and/or refrigerated. Yes indeed, I miss Taiwan for the food and entertainment stores. But I don't miss the crowds of people, insects , humidity and the overall pollution. But hopefully its better these days. But as I was saying, on weekends they will close the streets and vendors will come out to sale their products. And at times there are free movie nights on streets or other things will be going on. Its amazing. If you guys do take the next trip to Taiwan try to go the week of New Years. Some of the food will be different and a total different atmosphere plus you guys can see the fire works for almost an hour. Happy traveling and do let me know your experience for your next trip. Also, if you guys need anyone to show you guys around on what the locals do or eat I also have families that reside in Kaohsiung and will be happy to assist you guys.
@yanglu95556 жыл бұрын
I forget to mentioned the moon cake during new years, sticky rice dumplings during dragon boat festival, braised braised pigs feet, assortment of dumplings, fresh bamboo shoots sauteed with pork in garlic sauce, handmade pulled noodles, assortment of steamed buns, salt and pepper chicken with fried basil, iron quail eggs, etc. Wow, now I'm getting hungry. Lol Now you know, I miss Taiwan a lot.
@ChasingaPlate6 жыл бұрын
😂 my mouth was watering reading your list of food Yang Lu! Thanks so much for your kind offer of assistance for when our next trip to Kaohsiung 😄 It sounds well worth visiting over the New Year period- very festive and with lots of amazing food to sample! We've never been to North Carolina and would love to see more of the USA. Hope we can get there one day soon. Hope you like the Japan content we have coming up Yang Lu! Cheers, Sheena
@yanglu95556 жыл бұрын
Hahaha..... Sheena, I wouldn't want to come to North Carolina. It is no comparison to Kaohsiung. However, people said the BBQ is good here, which only a few places have great BBQ. Majority of it are commercialized. But the Carolinas have the beach and the mountain with 8-10+ hours of drive from one end to the other. So overall is an okay place to live. I can't wait for you guys to upload the Japanese series on here. Good luck in Japan!

Everything looked amazing! That breakfast looked like a perfect start to the day. I'm intrigued by the soup dumplings as well. The more Thomas described that pork bun the better it looked. It's been hot here the past couple days, so the shaved ice looked very refreshing. Loved the video!

Hi bandknight! That breakfast sure was the perfect start. The dumpling I had loaded with chives was heaven! That shaved ice would have been perfect in the heat you're having there! OMG! Finally seeing someone blogging the soup dumpling place. That place is good but business overall wasn’t doing well. Started out as a food stall, moved into a store, then back to where you were. The Yan Chen 鹽埕 district is one of the oldest developed in Kaohsiung so there a lot of hidden treasures out from the main streets that only the locals know. Enjoy!

Hi Pete Nah! Taiwan is amazing for food hunting! We've made a few trips there and love it! It's so easy to get around and there is so much food to hunt down! We loved being there again and filming this series. Thanks for checking it out! Hope you enjoy the rest of the Taiwan videos too 😋 Cheers, Thomas 😀

its not a dumpling its a bao just like to mention it but a awesome review i love it
@ChasingaPlate4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Yep is a bao/bun as the name suggests. We used the term dumpling in the videos also though as a way to explain them as to people that don’t know we think they more resemble a dumpling to a bun. Confusing so we’ll explain it better next time. Thanks. Thomas 😀

I love watching your channel just as much as the food traveler I would love to hear a rating and if it really was tasty or not i feel like everything you eat its always tasty i really would like a honest opinion:)
@ChasingaPlate6 жыл бұрын
Hi yellowpinkteddy, thanks for watching and we're so glad you are enjoying our content mate. Yes, most of the time we are very positive about the food we eat and film and this is our honest opinion. The reason is we spend hours researching, talking to locals etc about where and what to eat and film. Our channel is all about finding the best local spots and we almost always love the food because it is often the best or one of the best versions of it we can hunt down. If we don't like something we will always say- like how Thomas said he felt the dumpling skins were a little too thick in this video. As for ratings, we don't really believe they tell our audience anything. Good food for us is not just about the taste- it's about the atmosphere, the people you interact with, the sounds, the smells- just giving a number is unfair as the audience doesn't know what metric is being used to arrive at this number. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for commenting mate and we hope you like what we have coming up on the channel! Cheers, Sheena

Thanks for watching and commenting K.K. DOWNING! Kaohsiung has such a great feel about it and the local food is delicious. The xiao long bao from this stall are great- although the skin is a wee bit thick the flavoursome filling more than makes up for it! Hope you enjoyed this video! 😄😄😄😄 Is there much authentic Asian food where you live K.K. DOWNING? Cheers, Sheena

Great food hunting guys. However, I'm not sure if you're trying to mock a particular Mr M W's mannerism (the immediate closed eyes, sideway head movements) and language (the 'oh wows', the 'mmms' and the rhythm), slightly disturbing to see you BOTH doing it. Please continue with your amazing journey and look forward to seeing more of your food visits but with your own unique style. Huge Support and thanks (particularly for the address of the food spots you've visited).

Of all the countries you have traveled to, what countries cuisine is your favorite?
@ChasingaPlate6 жыл бұрын
Hi SaRaH Kruch! Gosh that is a hard one! We LOVE food so much and our passion is travelling to go food hunting so naming a single country is impossible for me. I find it so hard to compare Japan, Mexico, Thailand, Malaysia, India etc also (those are some of my top places though!) I have so many amazing memories of eating in different countries and they all fill me worth joy about the place and the food so I just can't name one sorry! 😋😋😋 Cheers, Thomas 😀

Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena I am sorry to inform you that my Mom passed away due to advanced stage of colon cancer (it was a relapse of the cancer) last Wednesday, 13/6/2018 at 2:35 a.m. in the hospital. I am still in a state of shock and in mourning (but not the traditional way required by the Hokkien Chinese). However, out of respect for my late Mom, I have to tone down my dressing of clothes (no bright colours like red, yellow and purple, according to the bereavement undertaker) and to avoid grand Chinese cultural celebrations for the first year of her passing. 😢😢😢

Oh Su-Ling! What terrible news. We are thinking of you through this difficult and sad time. It must be such a shock. We hope you have people around you who can support you through this. Sending lots of love your way. We are so sorry for your loss 😢

Hi Steven Yu, thanks for watching and commenting. Yea there are a lot of bikes in Taiwan but it's not horrible- it's very common in many countries in Asia. Kaohsiung was actually a very peaceful and chilled out place and traffic was not a bother to us as pedestrians or when we were riding push bikes around the city. The food was brilliant too! Hope you enjoyed the video. Cheers, Sheena
