Great footage Marc, it's always a great place to dive! If this was about 7 years ago you could have captured several thousand Ps.saulosi in this footage,,,so a long way to go to re-coupe this species.

curious little guys!!! love cichlids! Thanks for the fine video! Somebody please tell me that my guys don't mind being in 55 G when they could be in a large lake... I had a friend try and convince me that keeping Cichlids is cruel.. I love my tank.

Gewglesux, well there is no denying that any aquarium fish would most likely enjoy their natural habitat over a fishtank, but there are ways to give them a rather great life at home. In my personal opinion 55g is on the small side for cichlids, but this really depends on what you're keeping. I know many people like that size for breeding and keeping some mbuna species. I have quite a few 55s in the fish room myself for growouts and some small breeding groups like my nyererei, but i always try to give more when i can. I shoot for 75g for peacocks and smaller haps. The larger predator haps get a 6 foot 125g at minimum here. They get pretty nasty especially when breeding. Plus with some of them closing in on nearly 15 inches they use every inch. With that said i try my best to provide adequate space, proper water parameters, routine maintenance, and the best food i can find. All of this without the worry of getting eaten by a bigger fish or even by a human. That and the chances of illness are much less likely in a well setup aquarium that receives the neccessary care and attention. Heck some even swear that good fishkeeping can provide a better life than in the wild.
