Tajik Rebab / Pamiri Rubab

Improvisation on the rare Tajik Rebab. This instrument is played by the tajik community in western China. It's related to the pamir Rubab, that's played in parts of Tajikistan and Afghanistan as well as the Dolan Rebab and other skin covered lutes of Central Asia.

Funny how there have been instruments in different cultures that have developed having a short chanterelle/drone string like this instrument, the akonting, and much like the five-string banjo.

I got it from a private collection. But you could search for Elvis Ablimit online, he might be able to help you find one.

Genau, nylon und zuckerfaser 🙂 ich benutze die hohen 4 saiten zum Melodie spielen. Die unteren als resonanz und bordune.

Wird das haupssächlich von den Wakhis in Xingjiang/Nordwestchina gespielt? Also dfas Volk, das die Chinesen einfach als "Tajiken" bezeichnen.

@@billlarstead8019 I think the Banjos grandparents are more from African descent. The idea behind this short string is to have like a little bordun that can be played altering with the melody to give more energy.

It's a Descendant from the pamiri Robab. But this one is called "Tajik Rebab" it's played by Tajik people in the uyghur regions.
